Default 2002 - Radio and Navigation issue! - Help

Hi All,

I recently took ownership of a 2002 SC430. I have learned a lot amazing things about the car from many members on this forum. I am running into a radio and Navigation issue.
The symptoms are :

Navigation – No Lexus logo - black screen when the car is running, able to open and close the door and tilt, able go to information and display screen and nothing else, cannot go to diagnosis screen

Radio – No Sound, able to turn on, seek the channel, the antenna is go up and down when it turned on

The following things are what I tried to troubleshoot or correct it.

Checked fuse – all of them are looking good to me

Driver side panel: #2

Passenger side panel: #19, 24, 25 and 29

Engine: #43 and 47

Navigation Diagnosis screen: followed instruction with alternately touch the upper and lower part of left end of the screen 3 times – no success

Navigation – Able to eject and reload the Nav disc

Replaced Navigation drive and amp to GEN 4 (86841-50090 from ebay) – It still not working or no improvement at all.

Radio – Tried go to service mode with press 1 and 6 at same time with disc 3 times without success (Audio system - Service check mode https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...amplifier.html)

Next steps:
Remove the radio front unit to see if the IEBUS cable is connected
Buy new Radio amp but don't want to go that route yet.

And other question is how do I remove the black retain bar so I can remove the Radio amp. I did removed 2 screw which hold it but wont able to take it out completely.
Any suggestion, idea or any help would be much appreciated
Thank you and Take care
John

John,

I have the same problem (intermittently). For me, it seems to be an issue with the connection at the harness that plugs into the back of the stereo head unit. I suggest that you check that connection before replacing the amplifier.

My recollection regarding the metal bar above the amplifier is that once you remove the screws you just have to move it around until it comes loose.

It sounds like your amp to me also, but seastories has a good idea. Maybe someone removed your nav unit and radio and didn't plug the harnesses in tight. You can watch this video to see how to remove them

The fact that your Nav and Radio are out at the same time telling me it’s not your amp but rather the connections behind the unit. Remove the radio and Nav unit is quite simple. Watch the video and hopefully you will find the problem.

Hi All,
Life is kicking me left and right. I did not have a chance to finish TS my radio and Nav issue but I did managed open the radio and Nav unit to check the connections at the back. It is looked ok to me and I did not check the wire by wire. I just checked the plugs (unplug and plug it back).
Here is my NAV Service Check Mode screen(got it by luck. Wont able do it again)
NAVI_ECU : NCON
DSP AMP: NCON
AUDIO H/U : CHECK
Fr-Display: CHECK
G/W-ECU : OK
Can someone help me to understand those above codes?
Can you tell me which cable is IEBUS cable?
How do I know The radio is in service mode?

Thank you and take care.
