Default 06 w 135k mi for $10K

All - still trying to find the right SC for my need (want not need as a 3rd fun vehicle) - here’s an option

I had been looking at 02-05 but so many here tell me the 06+ worth it for the 06-on mid-model refreshes like trans upgrade, lights, etc -

at any rate, found an 06 Matador Red Mica over Black that has 135k mi and is only 2nd owner (he bought as CPO in 2011 off Lexus Showroom) and has babies and maintained - says he has done Tb/wp at 100k miles, has done suspension (control arms, struts) replaced radiator, ps pump etc - says has all records - only things not working are 1) AC and unsure of problem and 2) CD player

Seller Says body In excellent shape as is interior leather (very minor drivers seat that has been touched up)

Has dropped his price as he has another SC (08 w only 13k miles but that one he won’t sell less than $30k, too rich for my blood for a 3rd car)

this 06 w 135k mi with history and records fr 2 owners and totally clean carfax never in Accident Can be bought for $10K - maybe even $9260-9500?

what are your thoughts and opinions based on this info? (Obviously would do a PPI but @$9500-10k for a well maintained clean 06 seems in line?
Yes? Why - No? Why - Maybe Why??

I say go for it. With proper maintenance it can last to 300k miles.

It sounds like a good deal but make sure to do your due diligence on it. Make sure it hasn't been in a flood, or has a salvage title, maintenanced regularly, etc. Read the stickies regarding buying a SC430 and what issues can be expected. Then check it out yourself and get it checked out.

I live in the Cincinnati area and spent a couple of years looking before buying. I finally pulled the trigger in July. Based on my findings, I think you might have a good buy.

I would find out about the AC. That could be a big bill to fix. The owner did all the right things with the car, why wouldn't he get the AC repaired unless it is really costly?

Good luck in finding a good one. I have really enjoyed mine so far.

Agreed re the AC - when I ask home that question he seems genuinely ok with just reducing the sale price to cover whatever cost and said he just i doesn’t have the time - not sure of that is suspicious or whether he just wants to move on as he has another SC and ready to part ways w this one - Still any buyer will want to know so will have to be addressed w AC via PPI etc to understand the repair issue and cost needed to fix it, and then to deduct that cost from any agreed upon price

Think he’s just lazy and rather lower the price than spend any time on it?

Good luck with the recovery. I have talked with a number of people who have had knee replacement surgery and many say that it is not a walk in the park. Hopefully, you will be back on your feet soon and can find that perfect SC.

thx gman - I’m on day 10 (surgery was 10/19) and you are correct - def NOT walk in the park - wasn’t prepared for the severe post-surgical pain - you feel ok day of surgery due to spinal nerve block but then it hits tour body the trauma it has been subjected to (cut you femur and tibia, metal rods on each end, shaving bone spurs fr patella etc - Lots of disruption to all that circulatory and bone, muscle area and w so much inflammation your body is fighting back so guess pain should be expected, right? then pumped full of antibiotics and held together w medical space age gorilla glue and flex seal - lol - no wonder the pain! they say days 3-14 are supposedly the worst and I BELIEVE IT now first-hand - betw ice pick stabbing pain, the your leg/knee cap on fire 🔥 pain and the deep throb aching - it’s quite the roller coaster - even the Oxycodone hasn’t tamped it down - haven’t slept in 10 days and writing this in middle of night as just no way to sleep...

So close my eyes and dream of better days in an SC - hoping I can still get in/out 😂

Wow, I've never quite heard the post-surgery described quite like that but can believe it. I knew that it was tough but that does sound pretty extreme. Sorry that you are having to go through this but you should be able to appreciate it on the other side of recovery. Hang in there and praying for a speedy recovery from here.
