Default Backup Camera

I bought 2003 Lexus SC430 ---mileage 148k. Two thousand miles later I have decided I miss the backup camera.
Any suggestions regarding determining what might be the problem? Could there be a simple fix (ha!)? What would be a reasonable
amount to spend for a 'fix'. I like the car very much; got a great deal on the purchase. Don't want to get rid of it; just want it to
perform a little bit differently.

Thanks.

.

We all miss a back up camera. No back up camera on an SC430! Can't fix something that is not there. Maybe an after market??

My RX350 is my every day vehicle and I missed having a backup camera when I drove my SC430. I eventually added one with the instructions found on this forum. There are a good number of posts and a number of us have added them.

TnRvrGal, the problem with your backup camera is just as the other two have suggested. The SC430 doesn't come with one. You'll have to add one. As Oldsig suggests there are several threads on this forum with DIYs of folks adding the camera to their cars which you can follow or you can pay a shop (even Best Buy, so I've heard) to add one to your car. You also state that you'd like it to perform a little differently, if you are referring to performance other than adding a backup camera, there are tons of DIYs on this forum for all sorts of upgrades, enhancements and repairs for the SC430. Be sure to post yours when you do one though, it will help out the CL SC430 community as others before have done also.

You can buy a monitor that goes over your rear view mirror. Here is one I randomly found on amazon

Sorry to hear that man. I don't actually own one, I just was considering my options when I found it.

I am guessing most of the reviewers don't have a convertible, so the car's roof takes care of the "screen wash" when the top is down.

That's a bummer, but thanks for posting so we will know better in the future

I use my mirror mounted cam as my full time rear display. Top down, there is no LCD that can compete with the sun. When the top is down, I simply tilt the unit and let it work as a normal optical mirror.
