bastards got me! but they won't see a penny from me unless they hire a stalker to personally give me a summons. highly unlikely from what i've read. no way is a nasty letter and a few cool pictures going to scare me into paying a $157 fine or wasting an afternoon in driver school.

this "big brother" crap really pisses me off ! and "FOCUS ON SAFETY" what a bunch of crap! FOCUS ON REVENUE is more like it...

That stinks, can't believe it is set that low.

Some people pay good money for nice action shots of them driving their car.... looks like you got a nice set there for free at least, good luck.

BTW, I have edited your title and post to remove inappropriate language where you tried to work your way around the language editor on CL. Please do not do that again... I know you are upset about the ticket, but you don't need to subject everyone who reads the forum that sort of stuff.

hmmm... we were in Scottsdale with the Red SC430 (with out of state plates).... I wonder if they will find us too... I know we probably did 2 to 3 miles over the speed limit at least once in Scottsdale last week..

Thankfully those things aren't by us YET!!!!

wait, did they get you for going 3 over, or for running a red? The part about traffic school for red light violators is what threw me. Even if you were ticketed for 3 over, $157 is absurd. A friend of mine got ticketed for going 53 in a 35 last week and was only fined $105. At 3 over, you could also try arguing it down to a "miscalibrated speedometer", I know people who have gotten charges reduced to "equipment violation" tickets for 5mph over with that argument.

No, it was for speeding and not running a red. They use the same forms for both types of citations. I sometimes drive a bit fast but never do anything risky!

The pictures and scan aren't the greatest quality. I actually was cited for going 63 in a 50, so I was 13 mph over. Only in school zones will they nail you for 3 mph over the limit. Still, average speed on Shea Blvd, where they snapped me, is probably 65-70 mph. I think the van was hidden behind a tree so I didn't see it, and they got a clear shot of me because there were no other cars around. Usually there is a decent amount of traffic.

Sorry for using R-rated language in my original post

You've got to be kidding me.. they need to allow a 1% to 2% margin of error... most speedo's aren't even 100% accurate..

I think Porsche claims up to 5% off depending on what tires you put on..... (oversized tires allowable BUT throw off the speedo)

...if you research mfgr speedo's, you'll find most of them allow up to a 4% margin which ads up when you go over 50mph in the first place...

Around here (at least it used to be like this), you were in trouble if you did anything more than 9% over the limit...

eko: I will fight that ticket for sure. Here in CA, if you have anything on your face to destruct a clear view of the driver's face, the judge will toss that ticket out. Things like baseball cap and sunglass definitely are in that arena. Hope this help! anyways, nice looking car~
