Talking My 2004 SC430 - in-depth look

Hey everyone,
December time now and I have my SC430 in the garage most nights. I have 2 annoying things happening right now; #1 sat nav now doesn't read disc (and it has been fine since I got the car in March)
#2 The roof is starting to squeak when I raise and lower it.
I am still enjoying the car overall and grateful for the forum for the help over the months.
Ps I also made an in-depth video on my SC430 if anyone wishes to see it? (link below)

The NAV disk problem is fairly well documented on this forum. Some have taken it apart and found bad motors and others have just replaced the disk player with a used one. You can do a search to get more details on the subject.

Regarding the squeak, try lubing all the joints that you can get to (good practice anyway). But also try narrowing down the location of the squeak, which should help you narrow down the source of the noise.

For your DVD, try to clean the disk and the DVD lenses. Most of the time it will solve your problem.

I liked your write-up, thanks for taking the time to do it! When I saw you push that button and your side mirrors powered in I ran out to the garage to see if mine worked. Well guess they
were an option, don't have that switch.

It's a European spec thing. The EU requires retractable mirrors
