Default Traded in the SC430 for a Boxster S :)

No more Lexus SC430 for me...

go figure I only just bought the nice seat covers too.... oh well... I took out the floor mats too since It went to a dealer.. hehe... anything I can sell that isn't physically attached is open game so that meant the seat covers, and the nice soft custom car cover itself and floor mats... LOL

I got a very VERY slightly used 2002 Boxster S instead with lots of mods already made to it. It only has 3200 miles from the original owner and was pampered. (I know the previous owner)

So the car is Speed Yellow (If you folks recall, I really wanted a yellow SC430 too) and has the following factory options:

- Upgraded Stereo with CD (extra speakers, etc.)
- Sport package (means cruise, auto climate control for a/c and heat and power top)
- Dynamic Stability Control (whatever Porsche's version of this is with a button to turn it off)

..and a couple other things I can't think of..

BUT here is the list of goodies it already has done to it AFTER purchase:

Interior upgraded with Factory Carbon Fiber parts (a $7K dealer price option.. YIKES) -- I didn't think I'd like carbon Fiber but it looks so nice with the black leather and yellow exterior!!!

H&R Coilovers

Speedster Speed Yellow Humps

Dansk Stainless Steel Exhaust (sounds wonderful)

B&M Short Shifter (feels great in the 6-speed)

Rear Strut Tower brace (what the car needs IMHO)

Custom Cold Air Intake (with K&N Cone filter)

Custom brushed aluminum Porsche logo'ed pedals

AND the 2003 Hollow Spoked 5-spoke lightweight 18" wheels with color crested inlaid center caps (those darn center caps alone go for $280 at the dealer!) ---makes me think they are a bargain compared to the $550 Lexus center star caps....LOL

I'll post a photo soon of my new baby

OH, and those who think the Boxster is so difficult to maintain haven't done an oil change to it.. EASIER than the SC430.. go figure... oil dip stick and filler area in trunk... drain plug and oil filter in VERY easy reach under the car..

I guess it helped Porsche a great deal to have a Japanese Consulting firm hired to help them design/build the Boxster after all.. LOL

Congratulations, sir. Many happy miles to you.

What did you do with the seat covers?
If they're gone, which ones were they?
I need something to protect my seats from my post-workout self.

Congrats ceboyd. Hopefully you get more enjoyment from the Boxster than the SC430.

not allowed to post for sale stuff here but if you go to the SC430 classified section, you'll see the seat covers (with photos) and my car cover there...

Haven't had a chance to list the floor mats yet

Congratulations for your new ride, hope you'll be very happy with it.

You know, I also considered the Boxster S before I bought my SC430 last fall, & the speed yellow is exactly the color I like best on the Porsche too, great choice !

What year did they introduce a few needed improvments to the Boxster? Was it the 02 model year or the 03. Things like improved interior parts, engine tweaks on the regular and "S" versions, revised bumpers and the much needed rear glass window?

Sounds like a great car. I would like to see some pics..

Thanks I would have gotten a Solar Yellow SC430 if they offered it too actually. I seem to be drawn to the Speed Yellow 911 and Boxster.

BTW: Porsche started with improvements on the 2000 Boxster S (small ones)... but the 2002 model got the nice 3.2 upgraded engine with different front bumper and misc. other improvments. The 2003 got the glass window BUT added 233 pounds overall to the car

I got a very VERY slightly used 2002 with 3K miles on it so I have the lighter/faster Boxster with all the good upgrades

99% of the time I'll be driving top down so a glass rear window isn't a priority for me.

I found that I drove the SC430 99.9% of the time top down and the only nice thing about the hard top was that I didn't have to worry about vandals on my 2 week road trip. I have no plans to take the boxster across country so that doesn't worry me in the slightest!

Last year we drove to Alaska and back through parts of the contintental USA putting on 12K miles in 3 weeks on my former Infiniti G20. The year before that was 6K miles in 2 weeks in my former Z3 Roadster Convertible and this year 7300 miles in my now former SC430.. LOL Needless to say, we are now roadtriped out for a while... LOL
