Ran into a problem which I had not noticed until now because I'm always using wireless CarKit/Apple Carplay.
It looks like all other audio sources like YouTube, Local Radio, and AV In weirdly stop working after about 20 seconds of operation. The only thing that continually works is Apple Carplay. The problem persists even if I completely quit CarKit.
I have a query into Carlaoer about this issue. For 99% of the time, this is fine because I'm using Apple Carplay. I only ran into this when my phone was in for service and I wanted to play my iPod through the AV In. Music would run for 20 seconds and then the input would stop. Then I found this affects basically all media sources, except Apple Carplay.

I have the exact same issue, I have spent hr s looking for a solution, this is the first time I’ve heard of someone else having same problems.
Do you have Bluetooth connections working ? I turned mine off ,no change. I did wonder if CarPlay has any part in this .
What about wifi ? I set the unit up on the bench and it hooked up to my house wifi straight away , but put the unit back in the car and nothing..
my head unit is a 8827L Demo ,after doing some research it appears that they are one of the worst android unit out there . If I could I would throw it out .
no firmware either , the hardware is below standard,

The only bluetooth connection I have running is my non-paired OBD2 adapter which works without pairing. I have not paired the Android with anything else.
WiFi is working fine in on my home garage and work parking garage networks.
Tried with the carkit app (and all other apps) exited. I guess there could be a driver, but not really interested in doing a full factory reset and losing all my settings, navigation app, etc.
99% of the time, this isn't an issue for me as all my music is played via the phone and Apple Carplay, but it would be good to find a resolution. Waiting for a response from Carloaer. They are the ones who requested a video of the issue happening.

Came up with a work around for the media shutoff issue. Poked around for a few hours in multiple settings before I got things working right. It looks like the CarKit software, that enables wireless Apple CarPlay, is not playing nice with other media sources. The media shutoff problem happens even if I exit CarKit. So, underlying issue seems to be deeper than the app layer.
The thing that fixed the media quit was setting CarKit to be an audio mutex enabled app inside factory settings. That prevents it from cutting off other media sources. However, because it is then an audio mutex app, the CarPlay audio will play simultaneously with my other sources. I have to manually pause music in CarPlay, but that is much better than not being able to use other media sources.
I can now use AVin (for my iPod), LocalRadio, and YouTube -- all without them getting shut off after 20 seconds. Switching back out of those sources requires exiting those apps or selecting another media source (other than CarPlay)
In Car Settings app, choose Factory Settings. The password is 8888
The go into App Settings
Select Audio Mutex Apps Settings. Checkmark AutoKit to make that an app that mixes its audio with other media sources. Because it is then a mixable source, it going live no longer cuts off other media apps.
Finally, tap Reboot to make the settings take place.
This solves the issue adequately. It's not a perfect solution, but lets me use any media source app I desire. Happy again.

Today I discovered that bass response from the ML amp is better if I turn down the ML amp volume control and turn up the Android's unit's output volume. I'm feeding the speaker out of the android into my audio injector connection to the ML amp. I am now keeping the Carloaoer output volume set to max (40) and the ML head unit volume turned down. Bass response is definitely improved and the bonus is switching to the ML head unit CD player matches volume with the Carlaoer Android source.
Another thing to remember if sound seems odd.... Reset the Android DSP. It can end up with some weird settings if you play with it and forget to reset it.

A couple months later and still very happy with the CarlaOER setup. Has undergone a couple Google Play app updates and the wireless Carplay autokit has successfully updated itself and the interface "box" unit. Overall, working well. No crashes, but sometimes (< 5% of time) I do need to manually start an App when one doesn't launch automatically.
Also, doing ECU fault code scans and clearing codes in Torque Pro is really convenient. Don't have to drag out a laptop and cable, just a few touches in Torque Pro and done.

Steering wheel control of the Carlaooer Android unit DOES work with Axxess ASWC-TOY-LEX steering wheel interface. You unplug the 6 pin network plug from back of ML head unit and connect that plug into jack of ASWC-TOY-LEX unit. That diverts the digital steering wheel signaling to Axxess ASWC-TOY-LEX. That converter then outputs a usable signal on its brown wire. That brown wire connects to the Carlaoer Key-1 wire. There is no need to connect the brown/black wire of the ASWC-TOY-LEX. Just one KEY-1 wire is needed.
Of course, the ASWC-TOY-LEX also needs ACC power and GND connected. I simply tapped those from the power feed of my Carlaoer.
On my 2002 SC430, only the 6 pin plug needed to be moved to the ASWC-TOY-LEX . On some later years, the larger ASWC-TOY-LEX plug also needs to be moved to maintain network.
I made up an audio cable and steering wheel harness. The new harness has the two network wires going to the former head unit 6 pin. It also has audio input from my iPod and output to armrest audio input. That audio input is the one I added years ago to inject audio into the ML audio system.
Hard to see in this pict, but the harness is to multipin jack so I can detach the android assembly readily.
B+, ACC, and GND power for android and ASWC-TOY-LEX are taken from pre-existing power jack of multi-display module. I cut the old jack from the multi-display harness and re-used the connector. That gets me power without altering the car's harness.

Any chance you remember what kind of radio the ASWC-Toy-Lex thought was connected? I've never used an Axxess product before and would like to minimize issues to run down if it doesn't seem to work.
And lastly, how many of the steering wheel buttons correctly migrated once you got it going the way you wanted.
