Default Drivers side door lock

So, on hot days when my car is parked so the sun beats on the drivers side door, the door will not unlock using the remote. The passenger side has not been an issue. the drivers side and only if it is in the right place (facing the sun and it's hot enough. Today it is in the high 80's here in SoCal.) Have we heard of this before? Thanks.

Paul

HA! You made me look through several hundred searched post but I found one that refers to this problem. It would have been so much easier if YOU had looked through several hundred post for me! ;-) Just kidding of course. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like an expensive fix. More of one of those PITA things. Guess I should plan on replacing the actuator motor when I refoam my front speakers. Thank you. And yes, ribbing amongst friends is always enjoyable. LOL.

It looks like the motor P/N is FC-280PC-22125.
"10mm, Flat Shaft, FC-280PC-22125 Nichibo.
Five bucks on the famous U.S. Auction website.

I could probably stuff some home insulation in there to help keep it cool? 😉

Start reading here...
I did the rebuild for about $5 and never another issue.
BTW, the HVAC actuators will eventually go bad too but that is another thread...they are also inexpensive to fix.
just fun to remove and rebuild ;-)

You can also order replacement actuators.

Yes I saw your writeups. Excellent as always. I have already ordered an actuator motor off of that auction company website so it should be here in a few days unless they tricked me with ordering from that other big country we have to buy all of our plastic parts etc. from. LOL. I have been putting off repairing my front speakers for too long. This will be the perfect opportunity to take care of both.

Now if I could just figure out how to repair my radio door.

My radio door turned out to be an unplugged cable to the switch. I bet you already checked that, but if not, take a look. Maybe you will get lucky like I did.

give us a shout if you require some help with the actuator. It can be a little tricky the first time.
the door speaker is pretty simple and plenty of youtube support.

Thanks everyone as always for the support. Not going to polute this thread about my radio door. I have already pulled out the entire assembly when I installed a new radio after my CD changer got hung up and I tried to fix it. Ended up breaking the ribbon cable to the face and said forget it and purchased a new used one.

The are some excellent tutorials for the door speakers and actuators. Just have to confirm how to lift the tweeter off so you can actually remove the door panel. Im sure that information is here too. It'll be alright. Nothing a day wont take care of letting the glue dry on the new speaker cones and installing the actuator motor and resealing the case again. A pain for sure, but I have no problems with the ML and fixing it is wayyyy cheaper than upgrading! 😁

Default Door locks

This thread came up just in time for me. Our keys just quit working for no reason. Then my wife’s started working. I found some batteries at Home Depot and my key is working. Then my key doesn’t work again. What the heck.
Now it all becomes clear and looking forward to summer weather to frustrate me again. Dave
