Default Gas smell

2002 sc430. I smell raw gas in after driving. It is not coming from under the hood. Canister replaced and gas cap too. Any help appreciated.

Remove bottom of rear seat out. It pops out by simply lifting its front edge. Check driver side circular cover for fuel pump for strong smell of gasoline. However, I'm suspecting that it actually is a leak under your hood rather than there.

Thank for the feedback. I have no smell in the cabin. It appears to be only on the outside

Just got home and parked in my garage. Strong gas odor appears to be coming from the rear of the passenger side only of the car. Stuck my nose by the new gas cap---OK, under the hood---OK. Just ambient near the rear of the passenger side. Any suggestions that can help my mechanic appreciated.

Frank,

Are you getting any codes? Usually a gas leak will show a Vacuum leak. If we can get the code, we might get lucky and find the component closest to the leak. If it is in the rear, I naturally guess the canister; since you had it changed I would guess it's a hose or a clamp.

A common way to find the problem is to do a smoke test

The attached image is your SC fuel tank and it related hoses and fuel pump. Any of the fuel exit point could be leaking. Your mechanic may be able to pin point the source when the car is on the lift.

For me the cause was the fuel overfill check valve, check out this thread:
