08 SC430 Value (Rebuilt Title, hail)
Hey there,
Like a previous member posted. I'm just trying to get an idea of value. I've decided to move on from this car. (well maybe) It's honestly been the best car I've owned for the past 2.5 years. Unfourtanetly, while in Nebraska 2 years ago I got hail damage and they totaled the care out. I decided to just drive it and enjoy it. (bought back from insurance co) Now that I'm looking to sell it I would be curious as to what to ask. It has 93K miles and all the service has been done at Lexus dealers and is up to date. Attached are some pictures...

If I were to buy a rebuilt car (or another rebuilt car I should say) Then a HAIL DAMAGED car would be of higher value than an accident car and MUCH MUCH higher value than a flood car.
I might try for 70% of the KBB value, based on the year, mileage, etc etc..
I kind randomly picked 70% because it is a 30% discount. Other people may have another opinion.

Thank you!! This is kind of what I was thinking but wasn't sure if it was inline. Thanks again.

I’m not sure what does “rebuilt title” mean. In Ca, when the insurance totaled the vehicle, it will have “salvage title” . Are they the same? I would buy a salvage title if I am not planning to sell it. My 07 Corolla had a salvage title due to accident to left front fender. The car had only 20k miles, and ran like new. I got it for less than half of its value.
Sorry, vehicle with “salvage title” will worth less than half of its value due to no buyer will touch it.

Yeah, every state has different terms. Florida has a distinction between salvage - rebuildable and salvage - rebuilt (has passed inspection). I understand the car isn't worth near what a clean title one is. If I cant get what I want out of it, I'll definitely keep driving it.

While I've heard this 50% rule being touted as the value of a CA salvage title vehicle for buyers, sellers usually only offer a 30%, or less, discount. All salvage title vehicles are different, however, as the extent of the damage and integrity of the repair are key factors in determining what it is actually worth. Each buyer needs to make this assessment themselves and bid accordingly, regardless of what the seller thinks it's worth.
