FOB: Stands for the Frank Osmond Building which is where the electronic ignition key transmitters were first invented.

Here is more infos of the valet key:

It’s not easy to buy an uncut valet since they are not popular. I found one on EBay after lots of searching.

Found one on EBay.

Ask the seller to be sure it can be programmed. I’m sure it can but you need to be sure.

Perhaps some of the confusion is that all Lexus cars apparently don't use the same types of keys. Plus one needs to consider what you want your "valet" to be able to open. On my 2015 IS350c, I don't have a 'semi-smart' key that will allow only the trunk, but not the glove--only one that will operate just the glove and trunk (that's inserted into the fob), or the fob itself which will do all.

This is starting to hurt my head.

It is my understanding that "FOB" stands for "finger operated button"

That's in English. Lexus was made in Japan and they have different words.

I got you. Come to think about it, my wife FOB does exactly that. You lock what ever you want to lock, remove and keep the key then give the fob to the attendant. Our SC is designed the old way, you get the Master Key with buttons, a valet key with no button, and a wallet card key for emergency situation.

If I remember right, a valet key is physically different than a regular key. Besides not having the built in FOB, I think it is too fat to fit into the glove box lock.

Not my glove box. The FOB key will lock.
