What are you talking about? That are my keys, 2007 Lexus SC430.
As as described in my post, the valet is not thicker than the regular key. The reason it can’t go in the glove box or the center console because it does not have the lips at four edges.

You said in a post above that the key in the fob was for your newer Lexus. That would be your '97 ES300. Sorry, at first I got it confused. Don't know how that could happen since we're all on the same page.

How could you come up with that conclusion ? I said “Our SC....” meant all of the SC in this 2nd gen of SC from 2001-2010. I do not know about 2010 SC but I know all other SC (2001-2009) has two Reg Ket, a Valet Key, and a Credit Card Key.

You're not quoting my correction.

Obviously you're right D about them being different. I only have a valet key but I THINK the difference is the master keys have a groove cut down the sides of the key.

I then went to a AAA Locksmith and paid them $85 to program them to my car.
Since I did not have a Master Key I could not use Techstream or this gizmo to program a new key

Thanks D,
I didn't know it was possible without the master. I did look at 1010 but i can't remember why i didn't go forward with them.I started out with only the valet and managed to get another duplicate cut( in case i lost my only key!) and the guy programmed a remote for me but i couldn't get armrest or glove box locking capability with his cut.Going to the dealer was going to be exorbitant and so i resigned myself to the two valets. I'll have to revisit this again. Am i wrong about the cuts on the sides?
Thank you.

So I think I can glean from the conversation so far is that there are about 30 variations of key types with different origins, sizes, colors, construction, and fitment that fit a variety of Lexus car compartments over a 20 year period. That makes it pretty easy.

If you go this route, you can get two keys w/ transmitters plus the $85 programming charge for a total less than $150.
Not too shabby (but still $150)
If you are a gambling man/woman/person, you can try buying one of these. They are suppose to be able to program sc430's up to 2006

It is a gamble, since I have no idea if it will work. Also, it costs more than the first option, but possibly you can recoup your money by reselling the programmer to someone else

You may even be able to sell the stuff that didn't work for more than you paid. Just say: Due to Covid-19 I have to charge a premium.

It can be done at home if you have TechStream. You can erase everything and program new set of master keys. Only drawback is you must prepare to enter string of 100 hex codes in ten minutes. L1010 has a program that will do that.
