Default Shifting for quick acceleration

Hey guys, new owner of a 2004 sc430 here.
With the 5 speed automatic transmission, if I wanted to get a quick start off the line, would it be safe to shift through the gears starting from , or would doing so place extra wear on the transmission?

Just curious because I feel like the acceleration off the mark from D gear doesn’t compare to semi-manual shifting.
Also when shifting through the gears from L, should my foot be on or off the acclerator?

Cheers guys!

Do you use PWR ETC ? You can also do a S-shift starting with 1 then 2,3,4,5...just as you would shift with manual transmission. I just turn on PWR ECT, it’s fast enough for me.
