Default I just dont get it. (rear shock confusion)

I do a search for:

"2006 Lexus sc430 rear shock absorbers" on amazon, Ebay, or just on the internet in general. Now that is a VERY specific search. And it returns hundereds of hits.

But when I go to any of the hits the message pops up in ther corner, "Not Compatable with your 2006 Lexus SC-430"

I dont see how I could get more specific than that yet they dont give a ******. Just flood me with pages of useless information.

Try searching with 'Lexus SC430 rear shock absorber 2006'

I think these are the standard units for the rear.. If you search on the part numbers that usually limits the results. Sometimes setting the search value to 'images' or 'video' helps for certain types of things. When I put in SC430 2006 it said these are compatible. I use MeisterR coilovers but for most parts I go to Lexus in the UK. Lexuspartsnow and Rockauto are 2 other potential suppliers..

Jim

You are are looking for the wrong thing. Here is a a link with all the part numbers for the rear struts assembly the the parts you will need when you replace them. This is for My Son's 2005 but they are the same numbers for our 06's. I could not get the struts for the 05 at that time from Megazip. but I was able to get them for my 06 a few months later from Megzaip at half the price than we paid for the the 05's struts from Monster Lexus parts I think it is post #30

All I want are the shock absorbers. I dont want any of the exteraneous metal, brackets, or springs. The wear item is the shock absorber. But everyone is trying to sell me crap I dont need or want. The shocks should be half the price of the entire strut assembly and I wont pay those prices.

Will these work? I am so confused by ads that say they will work and others that say they wont work and everything in between.

This one does not specifically say 2006 SC-430 but the Amazon site says they will work on my 2006 SC-430

Yes, so much so that I have delayed getting anything now for a month since I got the car. Durring that time the problem seems to be fixing ityself. The hobby horsing is much milder now than it once was. At first I thought it was because I was getting used to it. BUT, I drive three cars, usually two days at a time and rotating them so they all get used.
1) LS 430
2) SC 430
3) Sky Redline

The LS is a superb ride, the SC is less so and the Redline ...well, no comment. Its not supposed to ride good.
So with the constant changes, I notice the differences.

Its almost as if the rear shocks on the SC just needed to be exercised. Most of the hobby horsing is gone but the steering shake, while reduced, is still there. I think part of that was tires taking a set, **** poor low profile tires, and at least one bent rim.

The wheels and tires are on order and when they arrive will probably fix most of my complaints. I hope, because I am tired of the mumbo jumbo of the people selling rear shocks. I think it is designed to confuse.

The rear struts on our car are very rare. I think the only option is the factory struts. That is why you can't find any aftermarket.

Otherwise you can buy some for a 90's era GS, but you have to trim them or something.

Front struts are cross platform and very common.

Here is one of the many post that came up when I googled "Clublexus.com sc430 Rear Strut part umber"

My 08 had 19k mikes on it when purchased. Stiff ride on small bumps. Drove the car off road on a rough road fairly fast. Loosened it up. Fix was MeisterR CRD’s

This was my experience. I ended up ordering stock units from an online dealer.
