Default Why is this?

I've seen this on multiple pics on SCs for sale. Gotten to the point I look there first. This is at least the 4th or 5th I've seen what looks like a crack n the LCD screen always in the same place. Here are 2. Am I wrong? Is there a problem with these?

Stubeef,
You can always replace the LCD display using the instructions from Tannin Auto Electronix:

bmanone..man you guys are great, that screen repair service is an awesome resource (don't know how much it costs.... but a great resource).
Got a line on a car that doesn't need it, but always good to have links like that one. Thx

My guess would be that the users miss the DUAL button and hit the screen by accident and crack the display or else someone working on something under the dash removes the controls improperly and cracked the display. But those are only speculations. Like GmanSC, I've never seen that before.

Well, without knowing the years affected etc., its most likely just a manufacturer defect that happens to appear after awhile. There were only about 140, 000 units produced in total if my past research was correct. There easily could have been a bad batch of screens produced. Not a big deal either way now. Unless the screen is truely scrambled or non op, it would be on the very low end of my concerns when purchasing.
