Default Sc430 'tricks'

I'd like to know everything I can about the car before I pick it up. If this car is anything like the corvette, this tread could be added to the FAQ link. Many of the vette tricks are not even on the manual, like if you turn the parking lamps on with the door open, the odometer lights up without the key (great for service). Turning the key three times pops the trunk open (after driver's and passenger's doors are unlocked the first 2). On the BMW you just needed to short 2 terminals to reset the annoying service light, instead of having to buy a $50 device, or take it to a dealer. I hope the SC is like BMWs, which you can operate the top from the door. I also read that some thingie in the trunk had to be engaged or the roof wouldn't come down.

The ones I know so far:

- press the RDS button for a few seconds to deactivate that feature,so the antenna stays down with CDs.

- Release roof switch when it's a few inches from closing; the momentum continues to slowly close it until it kisses the headliner, instead of BANGING it. Press it again to finish the cycle.

Hopefully there's a way to program C-BEST without having to take car to a dealer every time. Or to know which tire is giving you trouble when the light comes on. Okay, bring them on guys.

Pushing the right pedal towards the floor seems to make the car speed up.

Just joking around...I will think of something more insightful to mention soon

I suspect a few of the tricks that work on other models will also work on the SC. Might want to try a few of these tricks from the GS and post here if they work on your SC430s .

For those who read the tricks from DrewGS4 (from the link), a summary of those that do & don't work:

1. No -- holding down the unlock button has no effect on the windows (or the sunroof )\

2. The side visors turn, but they don't extend (at least I didn't pull on it really hard)

3. Yes -- the steering wheel can move a little more with the tricks from the thread

4. I know the A/C filter is in there, but I haven't pulled it out yet. The thread has a trick on being cheap (OK, you can call it "thrifty") and cutting up a home A/C filter as a replacement.

5. Unlike the GS and SCx00, there is no lock above the trunk latch. Instead, to keep the valet's out of your trunk and top:
- disable the trunk latch button on the dash with the switch on the left side in the glove box
- lock the console box with your key
- give them a valet key instead of your master key (no buttons)
I have not confirmed that the trunk button on the key works or not when the disable button is pushed

6. Yes -- good trick on keeping the A/C off. I had my C-BEST settings modified so that the A/C turns on when the AUTO button is pressed ONLY if it was on the last time. Gotta have my full 300hp...

7. Yes -- this trick does work. I haven't confirmed its impact yet.

8. No -- there is no trunk lock!

9. Yes -- even though the lights turn off after a few seconds on their own, it's a lot like checking to see if the refrigerator light goes out when the door is closed.
(BTW, why is it "refrigerator" but the short form is "fridge"?)

Default Holding unlock for 3 secs DOES drop windows

1. YES, holding the unlock on the fob for 3 seconds (and being near your car) does drop both windows. I do it all the time.

1. Well, if you put it THAT way, then YES.
I thought that the trick was about holding the INTERIOR unlock button down.

antigeek ...

If you really are interested in such things as the substitution of fridge for refrigerator, see the Clipping section under Creating New Stems here:

For the word freak, this entire site looks like very interesting reading. Are you listening, Tim?
