So sorry to see this. Unfortunately sometimes people don't even realize they hit your car. They drive away with no clue.
I hope they figure out who did it. Does CA have no fault insurance?

Good thing you have full coverage on your insurance policy. It'll be interesting to see the repair cost. How will they ever match the patina of the paint, especially in full sun light. I know your frustration and you have my condolence for the moronic damage to your baby.

Time to get a new SC430
Hopefully it all works out but if you do plan to fix the car rather than sell the car,
go to the best body shop even if you have to pay a bit more on your own.
matching the rear Q panel to the rest of the car and the rear bumper will require
a very good shop. Black depending on the sparkles in the paint and angle can
be challenging. The black rear bumper also to blend in with 100% match will
also be challenging. Hope it all works out

Sorry to see that GmanSC. That's a real drag, especially considering how much care you put into your car. I hope that you can find a good body shop to make it as good as new.

Oh nooo!!! I am so sorry this happened to you. SO undeserved. Listen: you can fix her, and she'll be back to her old self real soon.
Hang in there!!

Sorry Gman, I feel for you and feel your pain man! It happens to the best of us as there is no shortage of bad drivers, and bad citizens out there! Best of luck getting your body and paint back in order.
This incident is another cautionary tale...park your vehicles where you absolutely know you will not fall victim to the miscreants who cause this special kind of agony. Nothing is 100%, but I'll always go way out of my way to find fool-proof parking, if at all feasible. Thus, I have an 85 MR2 with just one door ding, a 2001 Tundra with no door dings, and a 2011 ES with no door dings. My 2008 SC430 was bought used with one door ding, but none since my 5+ years of ownership. Sure, my wife and I have had our share of unavoidable "moving mishaps" such as windshield, paint and body work caused by UFO's, and a few not-at-fault bumper/fender-benders, but only a few rare incidents while parked, because we are both so careful where we park.

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately, the scumbags population is growing by the day. They are driving unregistered (expired or fake plates) and uninsured cars, which makes it challenging to go after them if you can't catch them in the spot (even though you do, they drive off as nothing happen.) The cop does not care much and will ask you to go through insurance.
Been there and done that.

LIke New
After two and half weeks in the body shop, I picked up my baby on Monday. Well she looks like new, like nothing ever happened to her. The shop gave her a complete details which she didn’t need but they did it anyway. The bill came to just little under $2500.00. The shop picked up half of the deductible so I had to pay $250 out of the pocket, which was not bad at all.
The only bad thing is my baby now has the record of damage. I do not plan to sell her so it won’t bother me. My grand daughter will inherit this SC when she turns 16, which is eleven years from now. I will be 80 then, may be I will pick up an LC.
