Default High beam / DRL LED replacement?

Has anyone successfully swapped to a LED 9005 bulb that functions correctly with DRL enabled as well as a highbeam? No flickering or issues?

I currently have my DRLs disabled because I don't like the "old" look of the halogen bulbs but I would like to enable it if I could find LEDs that actually match the HIDs and don't cause issues.

Also, I don't love the look of the 194 LED replacement bulb, if I was to just disconnect those little bulbs would I run into any issues? Would I need to wire a resistor or something in place?

I bet these would work (they accept 6v input), but kind of pricey: https://www.morimotohid.com/9005-mor...-mm?quantity=1

Many of us has replaced high beam with LED. I don’t because:
1. You will lose the high beam
2. LED is not reliable. And to replace those bulbs is pain in the rear.

I just turned the DRL off and installed after market DRL to the bumper.

I've seen some threads over the years where people found solutions that worked for the high beam. Xenon Depot has one but it's like $200 with the DRL driver, there was others but the links are dead now. What do you mean LED isn't reliable? Doesn't a LED bulb last longer than a halogen in terms of hours? Those Morimoto's have a 3 year warranty.

It looks like these will probably do what we need:

but it starts getting expensive when you $64 to the cost of a decent quality LED bulb, but I think I'm on the right track.

gman, I just found a pic of yours in an old thread and it looks excellent.

Now I'm thinking this might be the way to go.

I really like this setup:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...wichbacks.html

Unfortunately, I'm a little unclear on the details of how exactly he wired it. To avoid hyperflash a new signal flasher relay is needed. Does anyone know where that is located?

I THINK this would be the correct replacement, but it's hard to know for sure:

just use a switchback bulb for the turn signal.
I did it for mine.

That's what this is. what bulb did you use? Did you have to do anything with the flasher relay or resistors to avoid hyperflash?

How did you wire it exactly? The 06+ turn signals aren't normally on unless they're flashing, I'm not familiar with the pre 06 ones.

You need to use the switchback bulb with built-in resistor to avoid the hyper flashing when using it as a turn signal.
Amazon Amazon
The white led (DRL) I have an on/off relay connects to the battery. It turns on when the car is running, and turn off few seconds after you turn off the car.
Something similar to this https://www.ebay.com/itm/382877091194?
You can also find one of the fuse, and hijack the connection to it for the white wire (white LED)
Connect the yellow cable to the fog lamp will help reduce the brightness of the DRL when driving at night (when the fog lamp is on)

ok, going by part numbers, if you don't want to mess with resistors in-line, you can switch the flasher relay for this: https://smile.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-3-P...008C9YS0Y?th=1

Now the big question, where is our flasher relay located?
EDIT: I answered my own question from the electrical service manual:

Now the question is how hard is it to get to it.

The bulbs I bought from Amazon on that link doesn't need an external relay.
Maybe I should do the relay when I mod the rear blinker with switchback bulbs so we can get better visibility when backing up.

yeah, those have inline resistors so you don't need the relay. I don't usually like to do inline resistors, but the relay is likely a total pain to get to. How bright would you say your DRL are? those bulbs look like small headlight bulbs more than a turn signal bulb, lol. 30W! I guess that's why you have the device dim them when the headlights go on. I'm not too familiar with the 02-05 lights, which one of those is the turn signal/drl? Is it the long part on the side or the top bulb in your pic?

the top one on that picture. It looks brighter than the main HID, but that just LED glare, typical LED.

do you find they're too bright at night, even dimmed?
