Welcome to the club. I'm relatively new too. I've found the forum to be very helpful and I'm sure you will too.

Congratulations on your acquisition, got mine January of 2020 with similar mileage and age (turns 20 in October). This is a great forum to get information on maintaining and using your SC430, I read it daily.

The first official year was 2002 but the first ones available were built and sold in 2001. (No different than other cars.) A lot of the original owners called them 2001s because of that point and they were slightly different than the later 2002 models. Nothing bad about that model.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase.

Welcome. And I too have a "2001" model (even though the title insists it's a 2002).

Came off the factory assembly line on 5 April 2001, and driven off the dealer lot in Miami on 31 May 2001.

Wbzauto, congrats on your purchase from another early build owner. it's nice to know that a bunch of our early builds are still alive and kicking!

i am curious about something Harold57 said earlier "A lot of the original owners called them 2001s because of that point and they were slightly different than the later 2002 models", and wonder if anyone can expand on this? what are the differences?

i don't mean to hijack the thread but figured OP would be just as curious...

It would be quite a chore to list all the differences. I think most aren't visible to a functional vehicle. Example, the rotor assembly, brushes and pully for the alternator with production dates between January and the end of April, is different from that in May and beyond. The interior map light had a change in July of 2001. You could look through all the parts pages on the toyo diy website if a specific area is of interest.

go to the Lexus website - drivers dot lexus dot com. Sign up and you can download a bunch of stuff for your car, i.e., owners manual, maintenance schedules, etc.
