Help! Door striker problem.
So I bought a 2004 sc430 the other day and I’m going through it looking for the problems that need fixing. The main issue that I can’t figure out a solution for is how to fix the door striker that is literally taped on currently. I took the rear interior panel off hoping to find an access hole but I don’t see any way to get behind there. Any help/hacks/ideas on this are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Looks like it's missing the backing plate for those bolts to attach to, right?

Interesting.
Looking at a exploded parts diagram:
https://www.mylparts.com/v-2007-lexu...k-and-hardware
It doesn't show a backing plate. Methinks the bolts got loose and fell into the cavity.
The looseness sure did bugger up the holes, but it could be worse.
Don't know how to tell you to get to the backside.
Let us know how it works out.
And congratulations. The SC430 is an awesome car!

I don't know for sure, but I would guess if you followed these instructions, you could access the back of the door jam

Thanks for the input!
Well I decided to just put on my McGuyver hat and think outside the box and came up with what I thought would be a decent temporary solution, but now that I’ve done it I’m thinking it’s a viable permanent solution!
I used some heavy duty drywall toggle anchors and it’s way more solid than I could have imagined.
Even though I didn’t really use anything from these responses, they are definitely MUCH APPRECIATED!
Cheers
