How old are my tires?
I have Michelin on the SC. One tire is obviously newer. The date on the newer tire is 5214 01ex. Translated to 52cd week of 2014 and made France. It's on the edge of old age. The other tires have a code of 4M88 009x. I can't find any info on the code. The Michelin web site is of no help. The code doesn't comply with 2000 and newer standard. It should be four digits no letters. I'm thinking fourth MOUNTH of 88 may be the month and year but I doubt it. The tires just don't look that old and who wood put six year old tires 04 SC. I'm going to replace all four in the spring and replace all of the tpms sensors at the same time. The SC is put away for the winter. Hopefully there will be some discounts then. I'm just curious of the age, I can't believe I have been ridding around on 23 year old rubber.

I think the link below will take you to the tire rack date code page and there is an explanation. If not, just go to the site and search for date codes.

dont think the link works..you have to go there to research and advice, then to tech articles and choose any, then replace the number of the article with 11, or browse thru them to find it
