With 170K miles, I think it is safer to do "incremental" drain and fills over the course of the next few years, as opposed to replacing all the fluid, all at once. But, I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to transmissions!

I thought of using this one, but did it thru the cooler tu es, since they were not connected yet anyways. Didnt turn off the engine either while doing it, just let the quart out, quart in. Then connected the tubes to the new radiator. Fluid is red now instead of brown sludge, shifts much smoother.

Mityvac MV7300 compress air
Mityvac MV7400 hand pump

What is the advantage to the Mityvac vs using the drain port?

with vacuum it's possible to extract all oil in the pan. usually impossible with the drain port, depending on the pan.
