Default 05 Pebble Beach "black" head lights

I am new to the forum and enjoy the great sources of information. I am soon to pick up a nice 2003 SC 430. The color is black and in searching through many photos on the forum, I came across an 05 Pebble Beach version that appears to have the inside of the head light colored in black. I did some forum searching, but did not find what I was looking for. My question, is there a way to duplicate the black inside the head light housing on the 03 SC ? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. I'll be sure to post an introduction when I return from the midwest with the car.

Default PB Black Head Lights

I did a Google search and came across a 2009 Club Lexus post that suggested opening up the head light assembly and painting the described area black. Now I'm interested in the how to method of gaining access to the head light interior. This would work for me, as the actual PB head light assembly is rare and very expensive. I like the look and I'd be de-badging the rear Lexus and SC430 emblems.

wouldn't that decrease the light output?

I'm looking for a DIY head light separation method to gain access to the area I wish to paint high-temo black.

I don't think so. If that was the case, would
Lexus make the "black" head light lense on the PB car ?
Somebody help me out here

I have a factory "blacked out" Dodge Durango R/T and like the look. It would be nice to compliment the garage with a similar matching SC430.

I agree Jim that it will diminish the output.

I'm pretty sure jparry that the blackout headlights are not OEM. They were done by a previous owner. There have been a couple of threads on this forum where folks have taken apart the headlight for repairs and another where someone blacked it out. You'll need to do a search on headlight disassembly or something like that. Sorry but I don't remember who it was that did it. They used an oven to soften up the adhesive to separate the front from the back. Keep in mind that there is a possibility that you'd destroy one of the headlights in the process. Headlights don't come cheap. You might be able to find a used one relatively cheap and use that one to experiment with so as to not jeopardize your current ones.

The idea of using an experimental donor head light is the way to go. I'll search for head light disassembly. Thanks.

Interesting thread as i am just starting to blackout some or all of my 08 PB’ parts starting with the rims. Mine are chromed oem pb wheels which are 08 rx350 rims plus the chrome. Bought a set outright of 2016-2019 rx350 rims that are black powdercoated along with center hubs and black wheel lugs.

thinking about the grille and emblems. Black chrome emblems would look good in my preliminary opinion. Anyone know if black chrome can be dome or is available for a sc430?

car is pretty dark already. Prelimary look at you photo i thought not…..
