Default Exhaust Modification.

Is there a modification I can do to the the SC430 exhaust that will not trigger an error in the system that I will then have to deal with. Looking for a better sounding V8

There has been lots of exhaust mods done to the SC.
Most of us here in the UK opt for , the 3rd cat to be deleted along with both resonators .

If the third cat is removed will that cause system errors?

I have the original 2002 SC430 exhaust but added a cone air intake. It added a more robust sound when accelerating, no type of HP gains and no check engine lights in the past 5 years. Just a thought if you are looking for a little better sound but not obnoxious.

I hadnt thought of the intake mods. They do add sound, albeit from the intake, but thats ok. Its just for my enjoyment anyway......LOL

BGW has done an exhaust mod for better sound. He wrote it up but I don't remember whether he did a full thread on it. His mod produced a nice but not overbearing sound. It would be worth checking into.

it will not because the O2 sensors are before the third catalyst. I removed it and the resonators on my 2002.
it certainly made it have more sound and it did not have a drone at any speed.

BGW70 I just completed that same mod. In the car, closed up you can barely tell the difference except that it runs smoother (the cat was almost blocked!!) But outside, it sounds as good as it looks,

As The Big Boper was known to say, "Baby, you KNOW what I like!" Total cost $250. AND I have parts left over.....LOL
