I've noticed a degradation of radio reception on my 2002 Lexus SC430. I know there have been issues with the antenna going up and down to accommodate radio signals.

Is there some kind of after market antenna or booster device for better reception?

I replaced that mobile antenna 2x over the past (5) years.

has anyone removed the radio for any reason?
there are two antennas and two plugs in the back of the radio.
is it AM or FM problem?

It is an FM problem. Yes, we recently had the radio unit out in order to try to install Sirius/XM, which actually did not work out

so sorry to hear about the XM not working…Check the antenna connectors on the back of the radio…there are two and they are different sizes.
one for the windscreen and the other for the right rear aerial.
