Default Drivers head rest on SC430..easy 2 remove?

I have head stains on the drivers side head rest and I was going to remove the headrest and attempt to remove the stains on my own.
2Qs:
How easy is it to remove the headrest?
What's the best way to remove dark embedded headstains from the leather? I tried Meguires leather wipes but they hardly made a dent in the head stain. I don't want to damage the leather.

To remove the headrest, push in the button shown by the arrow and pull up. (I'm hoping the picture does post)

Thanks to both of you....I'll try wool light...it can't do any damage right? I also read other DIY remedies and would welcome any other suggestions as this stain is pretty darn embedded.

I would go to a farm feed/horse supply store and buy a high grade saddle soap and soft brush designed for saddle soap. Follow the directions on the product purchased. It may take a few applications, that is a dark stain. Follow up with a good leather preservative like Lexol or go to a Harley shop and get their leather dressing for saddle bags. I’ve used both and they work very well as a conditioner.

thanks...I think that idea sounds better than wool lite. I was tempted to order the saddle soap off amazon or get it at walmart...bad idea?

Not saying Woolite would work for your issue, but the owner's manual in 2002 says this for cleaning the leather:

Remove dirt on the leather in the following ways:
1. Wipe it off lightly using a soft cloth (e.g. gauze) dampened with 5% solution of neutral detergent for wool.
2. Wring water from a clean cloth and thoroughly wipe off all traces of detergent with it.

If a cleaning like that doesn't work, you will likely have to step up to a leather cleaning product - I like Leatherique, others may have better suggestions.

I looked on Amazon and they have several saddle soaps available, I’ve used Fiebings before on a lot of leather items and they have been around for a long time. If you decide to go this route I would suggest their white saddle soap vs their yellow saddle soap because of your Ecru leather. A soft brush is good but I would also try a Mr Clean eraser sponge first with the white saddle soap. Allow your leather to dry throughly before you treat it with any good leather conditioner after cleaning it.

Whether or not the stain is "pomade," hair dye, or any other hair product, if it has been there a long time, it ain't coming out. Don't waste your time...look into replacement leather.
