I just picked up my 2022 LC 500 convertible and i must say, i still love my SC430 more....
The hardtop is genuinely more classy, there's more trunk space (albeit not by much and a different shape), and the super thick and rich leather of the SC430 is worlds better than the LC.
Enjoy your sc430's gents, she really REALLY is a keeper.
Man, the LC looks awesome. I loved looking at them at the dealer until they ran out of stock.
However, it seems that there is a special quality to older cars. They smell better, feel more intuitive, have more character. My is200 feels so much nicer to be in than my X-sport is250. What a waste of money that was. It sits in the garage collecting dust. Even the missus isnt keen to drive it.
At some point in time many cars seem to have lost character. They really became widgets.
The car company that returns to creating cars with character will sell a ton i think. Perhaps the 86 is such a car ( never been in the new one ) , but when compared to the SC430, the IS200, the Japanese Supra line and so on, one wonders. I would argue that the old Toyo 1.8 1976 SR i had years ago had more character than the current crop of offerings.
That doesnt take away from the fact that the LC is a magnificent looking vehicle.
I am a sucker for Matador Red!!! I have an SC and RX in that color. Congrats on the LC! The SC430 was designed, engineered and built with a mandate to be the "Jewell of Lexus". Time has shown these cars have met that mandate by their fit, finish and durability in all aspects of the manufacturing process now going into 20 years from launch in the USA.
