2006 SC430 Power Door Lock(s)
I purchased a "well used" SC430 in the spring of 2021 and have been going through it fixing the niggly problems that some owners "just live with." Replacing the rear wheel bearings cured an annoying road noise problem. There was no indication of the timing belt/water pump being replaced so that was done soon after (at 126,000 miles). I now have peace of mind on those two major issues. Some lesser problems were the power antenna and upgrading interior lighting to LED and installing puddle lights. I am now moving on to the next couple of problems. First are the door lock actuators and then the auto-leveling headlight system ("AFS" I believe).
The non-functional power door lock problem has been well documented in the forums, so I have a good handle on how to access and replace the little motors. The symptom is identical, I can hear clicking when using the remote or using the door lock switch on either door but there is just not enough "oomph" to toggle the mechanical parts within the doors.
BUT, my question is regarding the LED on the door switch itself. I do NOT see that flicker, ever. It is always off. Using the remote key fob the parking lights and instrument cluster flash a couple times as expected, but still the LED on the door switch itself remains dark. Is that LED supposed to flash like the other indicators? Or is it supposed to flash like a "security on" LED in newer cars?
I am asking so I know whether I have two problems to fix or just one.
