You nailed it! I listened to all on your list and the only one that didn't feel popish was "The Lime Spider -Weirdo Libido." It had an interesting British Invasion sound instead, which I liked!

So fellas, I am in celebration mode. I started studying law at Uni 25 years ago but opted to study major in Economics and Accounting. I worked in the legal area as sign off on behalf of the Japanese on a zillion contracts without being a qualified lawyer.. The last couple of years i thought why not. Now finished, i have the bar exam ahead of me. Life aint over until its over baby.

So, tomorrow I will be listening to the following among others on my way to the Casino in the SC. Sorry in advance to what passes for the hearing of Whlng and Wilson!

The most under rated band ever - and hell the singer was cute: The Baby Animals:- Aint Gonna Get

( just to put Wilson and Whlng on the right track!)

Baby Animals - Rush You

Baby Animals - Early Warning

Boom Crash Opera - The Best thing

Cold Chisel: You got nothing I want:

Choirboys: Run to Paradise

The Black Sorrows: Chained to the wheel:

ACDC: Shoot to thrill:

My poor old mum will be accompanying me to the Casino tomorrow. Perhaps I should give her some earplugs? tehehehehehhehe

Rock on brothers! Live life to the max! The SC lets us indulge ourselves as humans better than most vehicles.

Of all the bands in your latest post, I'm only completely on board with AC/DC. Although, the linked video of Shoot to Thrill, as well as the Baby Animals music video, are kind of fake. I've always had an issue with "live" performance videos that dub in the studio recording of the song being performed. So, if you want "raw." this ain't it!

I liked the punkish feel of Baby Animals video, but I can see why they weren't an international success. They only released a few albums over the decades, as did a few of your other offerings.

Boom Crash Opera, Cold Chisel, Choirboys and the Black Sorrows all had their strengths and weaknesses. What every band needs is a genius or two, musician or songwriter, who make their songs special. While AC/DC had it in spades with Angus Young, and perhaps the Baby Animals with Dave Lesile and Suze DeMarchi, none of your other OZ bands had stand-out talent. However, this is not a slight on your nation's musical prowess, Studog. I see it as a simple matter of population size. The larger the population, the larger the chance of producing more musical geniuses. Perhaps the UK's relatively small population would counter this argument, as they have produced an extraordinary number of musical geniuses over the decades. My guess is the UK is culturally more vested in music and music education than most nations?

If you like guitar picking, check out a couple of American geniuses: Chet Akins and Doc Watson.

I have to say, Aussie music is a little more raw than the yanks and not as gay as those multi coloured pants wearers in the UK.And that my friends is why it is better! tehehehe Sorry in advance to what passes for the hearing of Whlng and Wilson!

tehehehhhe!

You guys are such fun. The old duck was chuffed. Loud music and 580 in her pocket.

Im going to pick up a couple of those baker boy caps.

As to the music, Wilson you are a cack. So you admit that the only reason US made music is popular is because of your population! Lucky Mozart didnt produce his works while the US pop was low.

And Whlng, you and I are connected better than most. And we both know why.

Did you ever like Hide and XJapan? I used to know those guys.

Southern Allstars were a bunch of dudes around the corner of where i lived in Japan. In fact, my BIL was their manager.

If you havent been to Nippon Whlng and would like to know places that ought to be on your list and why, lemme know.

Love it!

Wilson, despite the popularity of US music, I dont think you guys produced anything of quality with the exception of Dylan, Young, and a few others. The same propaganda that made you think you were the center of the earth is what got you into the trouble you are now in. There are far better places to live than any nonsense location in the US. We all know that. If it wasnt for the freebies your govt gives to all and sundry - except for those naturally born then noone would move there now. The USD ruled so you guys did too. That time is now over, and we can all see right through the nonsense of the past.

Oz music is quality. We didnt have money, status, or the other bollocks you guys need to be able to produce nonsense. Our blokes just wanted to play. And they did better than you dudes, in terms of quality, no tech, and originality.

You guys are done musically, car-wise, tech, and so on.

So enjoy our stuff, because the world wont end because of plastic straws and plastic bags. Only you guys think so.

We all enjoy far higher quality of life in our countries than what people do there.

The fiction of the past is done mate.

Love it!
Studog, thanks again for kind offer on places to visit in Japan.

I have been to Japan on work & holidays but there is one trekking trip on my bucket list for some time now : Nakasendo Trail. See link below. Bit of a Spanish Camino pilgrimage type so guess those “musical” places you have in mind will be out of sync ? If not, I’d be most grateful for any leads. Japan is still closed for free & easy tourists ( only organised trips for now ) but come Sept/Oct autumn, am hoping they will open up.

We are seniors and having too much fun sometimes. We found ourselves in Las Vegas a few years ago after changing out the radio head for the Pioneer. Warm evening cruising Las Vegas blvd top down. Had the new then Rolling Stones Blue and Lonesome cd in the player. Turned it up till the door panels where bouncing fairly hard. Went down the strip both ways three times.

‘’the car made us do it. Yea sure. Folks next to us in their caddy Escalade playing rap loud looked as us funny.

whatever you are playing turn it UP. cars factory stereo was not impressive. The radio change out with its excellent customizable equalizer and its sound retrieval adjustable range expander makes any music come alive. Rest of system stock.

the beat sonic interface changes the up and down arrows on the steering wheel to a front and rear fader which is helpful in how much presence you wish your music to have in the cab. More to the front where there are more speakers adds definition and volume to your selection. More to the rear reduces that effect.

noticed the way different sound level and clarity with the side windows up. Sound reflects off the side glass more noticeably to me vs other cars.

car was boring with the stock radio

Ramstein-Engels, Base AND guitar is aswome
Night Wish- Ghost Lovescore, Amazing female voice. Have one of the biggest vocal range. Opera to contemporary to metal. I would say very similar to Sarah Brightman (original female singer of Phantom of Opera)
Night Wish- The Poet and Pendulum. Must listen to her operatic solo in the middle of the song. Amazing melody.

However, you thinking Dylan and Young were the only American musical geniuses tells me you're not being objective here. Oz bands/musicians, other than a few anomalies, simply haven't gotten worldwide attention like so many American and UK bands have (in my lifetime). You can personally think otherwise, but statistics won't back you up.

Trust me, I don't think the world revolves around America, musically, or, otherwise. But, you have to give us credit for our entertainment industry, including the prolific numbers of worldwide musical hits produced here. For me, most of my appreciation is for the golden era of the 60's and 70's, and what is being produced currently is not of much interest. But that's the nature of music appreciation in general. We like that which we grew up listening to.

I grew up in the muscle car era of the 60’s and still listen to that music. It always brings back good memories.

Folks, we're generally OK with a little off topic in the model forums, like this thread especially when there is a good linkage to the vehicle like top-down music playing... HOWEVER

we do not allow ANY discussion on our forum of politics or debate-type content, and this thread is full of that, plus some homophobic comments. I've edited or deleted those posts, please do not continue that path or the thread will be closed.
