So anyway. Just cruising the University of UTb and saw a 6:36 minute video about a failed "fuel pump relay resistor" on an 20O2.
Just for grins I followed along to get a feel of what went on here. I had never heard of a fuel pump relay resistor before and how it fails.
I have the schematics. The piece I am missing is that I don't know what the "CIR OPN Relay does. Anyone know?
Circuit Opening Relay. It cuts power if the engine is not running or being cranked. Fuel pump resistor is dumb design the pump properly so you don't need a giant failure prone component.
Hey LeX2K, can you clarify this statement further. I too am interested in finding out what the resistor does.
Is it a "Sacrificial Lamb" in case of a power surge during a jump start?
No to the sacrificial lamb theory. My guess is that it was necessary to meet some kind of power requirement to the pump when the key is not in run. Just a guess. Haven't had time to dig into it. Food poisoning took me out yesterday. Yuk.
