Audio System Static Question
So this morning my son was driving his 2005 SC to work and then out of no where this exceedingly loud statically noise started coming out of his speakers. He tried turning down the volume and nothing happened, he tried turning off the radio and still nothing. He called and I told him to pull the 30 Amp fuse in slot #8 in the under the hood fuse box of which he did and the noise went away. Any thoughts on what might be shorting out causing the Static sound coming through the speakers but yet not responding to turning off the radio or turning down the volume?

I have one if you need one. Bought it off ebay to troubleshoot four blown speakers. Which is the moral of the story. It wasnt my amp and I spent $200.00 for a spare. You might want to wait until it is actually something you can troubleshoot instead of an intermittent problem. Just a thought.

Thanks picked one up already for $200 being shipped today. Have not looked yet in my 06 as where the amp is located in the trunk. Where is it located to be able to tell the son but assume it's not hard to fine and it should be plug and play?

So after looking in the trunk of my 06 it looks like you remove the 6 forward trunk compartment shelf buttons and then that whole shelf cover picks up and slides out towards the rear of the car. Am I looking at this correctly?

LOL. Of course not silly. Why would it be that simple. On my 02, you have to remove all plastic from back to front leaving the sidewalls. It's not difficult plus it gives you a chance to clean the spare wheel well and make sure your compartment drains are good. It's about an hours job. Two if you've never done it before. Have a beer and just relax.😁

I installed the spare tire kit in both my 06 and my son's 05 so I have had lots of the trunk parts out already. Never have had that front shelf cover out however, but it should not be that difficult. I will be handling this project remotely as the 05 is in Richmond, VA and I am in Bella Vista, AR. I mean really if you can get a remote robotically performed colonoscopy surely I can talk a 50 year old with a MBA through this. What could go wrong with this plan? We will start with the basics like what is a trunk, where is the trunk located on your car, how to open the trunk baby steps. It'll be fine. Plus the good point is that it was his $200 bucks so if he jacks it up I am not out anything. If it does go well it will be considered a personnel growth moment for him so it will be a win win for everybody

Good luck Sir. I made mine learn to change oil, do a brake job, change a tire etc. He still sucks at it and just blows his money by taking it in to the shop.🤔 Dumb kids.

Yes that is my son as well. I was just trying to be funny. He hooks up the techstream laptop that I had Bgw70 setup for me and mail to VA to him. He can run techstream program the TPMS's read some code things he is not nearly as helpless as I made him out to be. I must say he has honed his money making skills way more than his mechanical skills. He has had the mind set for years that if he can pay someone to do it than why should he.

Yea. But what's the fun of that? The sense of excitement, frustration and accomplishment after you finally fix it. Now I get to go put in those new denso coil packs that arrived today.😁

I really do hope it is the amp Sir. But I did notice this and just made me think of you.
Theres two noise filters for isolating the ignition coils. All eight of them. Just something to keep in your pocket. I found it curious as I had never knew they existed. Having manuals and being curious.😏
