Default Car Imbolizer?

Hi guys, wondering if anyone else has run into this.

- Car has Viper 5706V installed - Two Way Remote Start/Alarm -- had for about 4 years now.
- Replaced Stock Radio with Android HU (kept OEM Door/Motor)
- Replaced NAV with Android HU (Kept OEM Door/Motor)
- Double Tap Open/Close Roof Mod (TR17's)
- Have a quick disconnect on Ground of battery (for storage, turning off battery for extended storage as I have other vehicles)

I had some battery issues others have experience (Parasitic Drain) -- been good turning off Auto Lights / Running car every few days for a drive -- also replaced the battery 3-4 times in the past 5-6 years).

The car has this random issue where once I put key in or try to start the car it completely kills itself.. like a kill switch -- once I disconnect/reconnect battery everything goes back to normal - Happened maybe once last year? -- But has happened like 3 times in the past month.

As I did not do the initial install of the Viper -- I'm assuming its that? (A very reputable shop installed it originally for me) or is this a "feature" somewhere I've never seen in the forum?

I know nothing about your system but I do not believe it is the immobilizer. Heres why. The car is dead. The immobilizer would still turn on dash lights etc just not start. You have something tied into something that is probably taking your power ground away. I wish you luck.

Thanks, that makes more sense logically, wanted to bounce it off someone as I wasn't sure what the immobilizer actually does besides not make it able to start.

I did run a brand new ground for everything. I've been looking for a replacement battery terminal connector for my Ground/Negative connection as I'm a dummy and can't find the original piece I took off when I installed the quick disconnect.

it really sounds like you do not have a good battery connection…make sure you cannot move the battery cable connections, also make sure it is nice and clean.
can You post a picture of the battery connections please.

The Viper does have some sort of transponder bypass in order to start the SC430. The SC430 should start normally with the key and only use the bypass module during a remote start. There are several bypass modules available for the SC430. It would be best to visually check to see which one was used by the system installer. With that info, you can then check to verify that the wiring is still intact and not causing any issues. With a transponder bypass module problem, the engine will crank, have a "Security" light lit and not start.

The Viper can also be setup to prevent engine cranking during a triggered Viper alarm or to prevent starter grind if the key was inserted and turned to START while the engine was running under a remote start.

From your problem description, it doesn't sound like a typical R/S transponder bypass issue. More testing would be required to help pinpoint the problem or rule out the Viper.
