ML door issue

So I am not quite sure what to make of this so I thought I would put it out in the world.
My 02 ML stereo door has never worked. Since April 2019. I tried everything including taking it apart to see the guts. I knew it had power because sometimes the cover door would just get stuck. Electrically. The motor was keeping the door open.
Occasionally it would work after disconnecting and reconnecting everything, once or twice.
But the strangest thing happened the other day. I pulled the cover door down half way and then hit the button. It immediately closed and has been working ever since. I don't know how long it will work. The only idea I have is that if it is commanded to open but the door is already detected open by the optical sensor, it could just get confused and refuse to work. By setting the door in the middle, neither the fully open or fully closed sensors were activated so it just started to work.
Yes, there are a huge number of holes to this theory. I have had the battery disconnected and reconnected a few times recently. But after three years of ownership, if it could be fixed by disconnecting the battery, it would have.
It's probably is just some random quirk. But what if it's not. I hope someone else that may have a door problem gives it a shot. Never know till you try right?

Could the motor have been flat spotted?

No. I completely took apart the whole motor assy. Cleaned and lubricated the gears etc. It's most likely another completely random intermittent problem. Today it works. Tomorrow who knows. 🤣 But considering that I have known all along it had power, I thought that it just didnt detect that it was open. The door would be stuck open hard. That's when I found and cleaned the sensors to make sure there weren't any furballs. Nope.
So much of our systems are basically magic to us. And I admit Im reaching. And this wont even apply to 99 out of a 100 door failures. Geck. I dont know why they fail etc. But maybe I accidentally found a way to reset it (the M/L memory) by ensuring the door is pulled to the half closed position and then hit the button. Then it just completes whatever the last cycle was in memory. But it was just weird. Its working perfectly. I hope it stays that way but who knows.

If anyone has wiring diagrams for 06 up, can you check to see if you can identify the M/L door motor assy. I see the switch. Just not the motor and where its control signals come from.
Its not in my 02 manuals along with the steering wheel controls. Complete ghost to me. Thanks.

Is there a door stop, or a place where one should be? Maybe the theoretical door stop is missing and the door opens past it's limit. That is why when you pull it half way down, it works. I am just pulling this stuff out of my hat and throwing out "What if's"

Yes ther is. It's a small piece of plastic that acts like a switch breaking a photo diode detector when it gets to top and bottom.
The electrical input to the ML stereo is a mystery though. DOS1 I think is the signal name. I have no idea what it does.

Update from my previous post about the DOS1 signal. Just found out by looking at the Pioneer Service manual that DOS1 is the signal name for the "Door Switch Input". The One designation is actually a symbol for a "high" 12v signal and is not numerical at all. I haven't had time to delve into this manual yet. So far I only have PDF on my phone. It was written apparently by Pioneer for service technicians of the M/L stereo for European models of the SC430. I wonder if it turns the screen off when the door is closed? Hmm!

hahahaha, never fellow SC430 enthusiast…
Retroplay knew how everything worked…the guy was amazing.
he knew how to reverse engineer the systems because he did it for a living on “retro” aviation equipment in Melbourne Fl.
i had lunch with him once when he gifted me an ashtray gear I needed on my 2007.
Post up the manual…I wonder how much different they are

And while I'm at it... Has anyone by chance seen a service manual for the Amp? That would be seriously cool. Toyota is so stingy with their information. Which I can understand the first ten years maybe. After that, release everything.
