Default No power to car after changing battery

The interstate battery for my 2006 SC 430 was defective. I pulled it took it back got a new one and put it in. There’s no power to anything in the vehicle now. I’m thinking there must be a breaker or safety mechanism somewhere that needs to be reset, but don’t find anything on the forum. Anybody encountered this problem before. Thanks Paul

I would double and triple check you did not put the battery in backward. Not all batteries have the positive & Negative on the same side.

Very dumb question but I've seen this happen before...
Some batteries come with protective caps on the terminals. The Red one on the positive terminal is easy to spot. The Black one on the negative terminal, not so much especially in a dark garage.
Anyway, just a thought from way out in left field.

Thanks everybody. Rechecked all those things last night and again this morning. Everything‘s been cleaned up, battery tests OK. When I connect the negative terminal after the positive there is not so much as a whisper. I haven’t checked the link yet To see if that’s blown. My small socket set isn’t here to let me do that. Keep the ideas coming.

Exxxxxxxxxxxxxcellant! I think we will have to ask a few more questions:
1. Why did you change the battery initially?
2. Was the car exhibiting these same signs, or did the headlights work, but the car wouldn't start?
3. Would you be willing to use jumper cables to attach the negative terminal to a ground point on the car and see if the headlights go on?

Why (How) was your battery defective? New or old battery? How were you determined it’s defective? Was your SC function normally prior?
Most likely you blew the main fuse. Check your manual for fuse locations.

Definitely confirm your old battery was defective. I assumed I had a battery problem about two years ago in an Accord and changed it, as I was having intermittent starting problems that sounded like a weak battery. It turned out to be the starter and I got rid of a serviceable battery for a new one.

Just to be sure I understand, you installed a new battery and there is no power to anything in the vehicle. You double-checked the installation and found nothing wrong. You tested the new battery and determined it is a good battery.

I took a quick look at the wiring diagram for my 2004 model and I'm assuming the main power wiring is the same as your 2006 model.

My diagram doesn't show any main fuses, main fusible link, etc. There is the 140 amp ALT fusible link, but that powers only a portion of the electrical system. If that blew, it wouldn't take out all power to your vehicle. For example, your hazard lights and horn would still function as those circuits aren't powered off the fusible link.

The 140 amp fusible link is located in the fuse box located directly in front of the battery.

You confirmed that there is absolutely no power to the vehicle, you have determined that the new battery is "good", and you have installed it correctly. I would suggest you go to easily accessible points (battery, fuse box) find out where you don't have voltage, and then work back to the source.

By the way, have you checked out your alternator? A bad alternator can take out the fusible link and cause other electrical problems.

Good luck with the repair and let everyone know the fix.

Make sure both of your battery terminals are tight. This situation happened to my 2002. Turns out my positive terminal was loose, even when tightened all the way down. You could lift it off the post. Solved with a lead shim.

Also, check the negative cable's attachment to the vehicle. Have you tested the voltage of the battery?
