More Bass With Little Space
I wanted more bass when listening to hip-hop so I rolled up my sleeves and set out to make my own enclosure. This is the first time I had ever tried making a custom enclosure. This definitely gives much more bass then the stock system. I still have the stock 8" for the midbass and the new Solobaric 8" for extra sub-bass when I want it. The Solobaric S8L7 puts out quite a bit of bass for such a small sub.

The bass remote is running to the kicker 400.1 amp in the trunk. I installed the amp next to the navigation computer underneath all the trunk carpeting. Now I can control as much bass as I want from the new sub.

great job man.
Any problems with amp. heat down in the trunk area without ventilation? How involved was the wiring, and where did you get the power and ground for the amp? Just curious.

Thanks for the kind comments.
No problems with heat so far. I ran the amp for about 30 mins under the carpet and it felt cool. The amp is actually mounted at an angle with only the upper edge of the amp touching the plastic underneath the carpeting, most of the amp has about a 1" clearance from the carpet.
Wiring was fairly simple. I ran 4 guage power wire from the battery to the trunk (tucking the wire under the lighted door sill). There are holes to run wires to the trunk behind the rear backrests. I grounded the amp in the trunk compartment into one of the predrilled bolts. The kicker amp has a high level input so I just tapped into the factory subwoofer speaker wires for the signal. I tapped into the cigarette lighter power wire for the remote wire. The amp is not very difficult to wire, it just takes a little time to make everything look nice.
