Default Part identification?

While doing some other work, I came across this (the assembly the screw driver is pointing at). What is it? It is only on the driver's side, the passenger side didn't have one.

Another forum chimed in that it is a ride height sensor. Makes sense by looking at it but without air suspension, have to wonder why it's there...

There are two height control sensors - the front sensor in your photo, and one in the rear of the vehicle. Your LS430 uses them to adjust the aim of your headlights.

Yeah I noticed those on my car too. No air suspension, it must use those sensors for something. Maybe something to do with the vsc?

Duh, now I feel stupid. Never would have thought of that.
Thanks!

The 01-03 LS430 has headlight beam level control (up-and-down only), the 04-06 LS430 has adaptive front lighting system (up-and-down and side-to-side).
