2007 RX350 I have a center console panel between the decorative gearshift surround and the radio. It has (L to R):
1. Two Heated Seat Controls
2. Headlight Spray Switch.
3. Cigarette Lighter.
When i remove this panel, on the back, there is clearly the support for another switch between the Headlight Spray Switch (unplugged in picture) and the Cigarette Lighter (black arrow). Also, on the wiring harness going to the cigarette lighter is another (unused) two-wire connector that i assume goes to whatever option this missing switch would be for (white arrow).
1- Does anyone know what option this switch space is for?
2- Does anyone know the specifics of that two-wire connector (e.g. amperage rating & which fuse it goes through)?
3- Would cutting the panel from behind to put in a custom accessory switch using an OEM standard Toyota Push Switch be easy, or should i just buy a new panel with all the holes already made? If so, what would be the part number? I cannot find a picture of a 4-hole version of this panel.
1. Its supposed to be the air suspension switch where you can adjust it up or down (the control lights would be on the speedo gauge).
2. No idea
3. Cutting may be hard but I've drilled into the open area to put a USB port for my GROM unit.
Here's a picture of the panel with the air suspension button.
Just outside the picture in the upper left is a power button added by an installer to control an amp. The red light indicates power on. So it's possible to add a switch to the panel.
Agree with the above, although for installing the switch, I would recommend using a quality utility knife with a new blade to make the hole for the switch.
Replace the blade with another new one after cutting part of the area if needed be. Patience is the key, some plastics are difficult to cut.
Installed a switch on a Equinox which most likely had the same type of plastic, it took awhile although the switch snapped in perfectly.
I was looking up part numbers on the panel. You probably don't want to buy one as the dealer price is $580 +
There are 11 different part numbers - 1 is discontinued, 3 don't have wood trim (those are only $60). Of the 7 left, I can't figure out which one is really the one you want.
