Good and Bad News.

Good news is the auto folding function works flawlessly.
Bad news when I turn the car on I get a yellow triangle with a fault message for the Blind Spot Monitoring.

If I reconnect the original side mirror blind spot works again.

I will end up returning everything and going back to stock if I can't figure this out.

Drivers side mirror is 2014+ auto folding, passenger side is our stock 2013 mirror(that's why it's not folding in the video).

do you think the blind spot monitoring error coming up because you running 2 different mirrors technically?

Did you swap just the base, which contains the motor, or did you replace the top as well? I would assume if you can keep the top from your mirrors, your BSM should work. Keep in mind that in 2014+, the BSM was upgraded to add cross traffic warning, the 2013 BSM does not have cross traffic. I would assume to cross traffic is in the rear sensors though, not in the mirrors.

I put the entire internals of the 2014 in the 2013 housing.

actually 2013 blind spot light has a blue ting on the glass and the 2014 doesn't.

when I put the 2014 glass on the 2013 it threw the same error. Also the wires on the back of the glass/mirror are different colors, same connectors.

Im going to break down the mirrors again and transfer just the motor from the 2014 to the 2013. Then everything should work.

So after breaking down the mirrors to the bare bones and tracing the wires I found out the ground and power for the blind spot light is reverse on the 2014 side mirror.

All I need to do is slice and cross the wires.

Just need to connect the red wire to the black and the black wire to the red

This is the effort i went through till i discovered the wiring difference.

All the other wiring is exactly the same between the two side mirrors except for the two extra wires related to the motor for the power folding.

The content in this thread can make up a pretty solid DIY thread.

Good news I got BSM to work without throwing an error on the dash.
If you don't have BSM the 2014+ side mirror with power folding door switch is plug and play.

If you have BSM you have to remove the mirror part(Just like in the puddle light DIY) then you have to cut flip/switch the wiring for the BSM light on the 2013 Mirror.
BSM will only work if you put the 2013 mirror in the 2014+ housing.

I'll post another video once I get my other mirror(next week) and have them Both installed.

Wow, I'm impressed, I did however laugh out loud when I saw the photo of your mirror dissected on your carpet! Thanks for both the laugh and info, I am definitely going to tackle this upgrade...

This is awesome!

Just some general knowledge. The BSM sensors are behind the bumper below the rear quarter panel. Vehicles with RCTA also utilize these sensors to detect cars. The mirrors just house the BSM indicators.

I had a perfectly good table to work on, but for whatever reason I did some of it on the table and some of it on the floor. I guess I figured I would tackle it from a different angle, lol whatever it takes.

Great job peasodos for trying this out and made it work!!!!!

I know there are lots of people with 2013 that wished for power folding mirrors and you gave them a hope.

Now can you figured out putting power trunk option on non power trunk for me??? lol

That is the only option that I really miss on my car.

I did look at a used power trunk mechanism on eBay. There is an entire wire harness I don't think our cars have. It's not plug and play and not worth the effort.
I have never owned a car with power folding mirrors, it's a very cool feature. There is a base model Kia that parks near me with a license plate that says noh8ing and that guy has power folding mirrors. I couldn't let a Kia out option me.
