GS450h felt a lot quicker up to 60 mph, probably because the bottom end torque is so great, while GS460 V8 felt lethargic down low.

Yeah, seat of the pants is not a good indicator of how fast a car accelerates. I sat in a Tesla P90D, it didn't feel as fast as a 911 Turbo, but it is!

I'm sure the 450 is quicker.
The 460 was very lethargic.

I was particularly interested in 0-40 rather than 0-60 for an objective measure of practical low speed torque around town.

you really don't have to explain all that for who's faster, they're all great and fast cars I promise. My 350 awd get to 100 km in 5.5 S so the 450h and 460 are all faster than what those people claim.

I hope I'm not out of line bringing up an LS460 as another option. For nearly the same price or a bit higher, you could go for an LS460 or a rare LS460L. The LS460 is just a large version of the GS but much more refined and the V8 is silky smooth. My previous 2007 GS350 had a high revving whiny V6. Nothing beats the calmness and smooth power delivery of a V8. The cost for parts are identical. The control arm "issue" is overblown. I changed 4 upper control arms for $160 myself and it was simple.
I truly enjoy the LS far more than my previous GS350.
btw get the 19" wheel and it truly freshens the Ls460 up. The 18s are bland. The ride is still comfortable with 19s & better than the GS30 with 17s. 19 inch touring wheels are ultra rare though and were hard to find.
