Hey All, new to the lexus forums as i just purchased a 2015 GS 350 F Sport Model. Love the car so far! The car did have the navigation package but is missing the SD Card. Is it recommended to purchase this from the dealer or can i buy a used one from Ebay, etc.? If purchasing a used one, would it work in the vehicle?

The SD Card is not as plug and play as we would like. Needs to be coded
to cooperate with the cars computer which takes a Dealer Scantool.
It is a shame that someone would pull the original out as it won't work
anywhere else anyway.
Congratulations on the new (staggered) wheels! I trust you have checked out
the Sport and Sport + (plus) settings of the Drive Mode? 350's change the
suspension which the 200t and 300's do not.

That's what I thought. When I was at the dealer for service, I talked to the parts guy and he said no. Just stick the new SD card in and follow the instructions BUT DON'T TURN IT OFF UNTIL IT'S FINISHED. So I bought the SD card which came in a sealed package - it's GEN8-17 (17.1 update). I started the car, went to the map data screen to update my 14.1 version and ejected it. I then put in the new SD card and all went fine. Although, it took me an hour of sitting there idling while the data was being copied/verified until I realized that I hadn't inserted the card all the way. When I pushed it in until it locked, it finished quickly. It did go through a few cycles of "updating software," however, my software was updated last year. I also made the mistake of having a USB full of music plugged in and I'm pretty sure there should be nothing in the USB slots. Total cost was $210 for the card in a sealed package that indicated the card was good for several models but only the 2015-2016 GS's.

I went in for service, they "updated it" the maps from v15 to v17 and 2 hours later I checked and it still showed the old version.

I had mine "updated" a little over 2 weeks ago but still shows the old version. See picture below. They did ask me to come back to check but I have not been able to find the time away from work and family. Wish I would have checked before I left the service center. Glad the SD card worked out for you!

Yes I’ve checked out the sport modes. Coming from a 2008 Infiniti G37, I wasn’t sure if the performance of the GS would be enough but it’s more than satisfactory! I’m still learning all of the technological features of this car.

I am sure glad your SD map upgrade worked for you. My Dealer told me that I would not be able to upgrade the map myself, as they need to activate something. So basically, I would need to pay money to buy the SD card and then they would update the map. In Canada, they told me it was an approx. $400 cost.
I am curious, where exactly on the dash is the SD card for the nav.......I see no possible slot anywhere....does the nav unit have to be removed to get to the SD card?

Thanks for the photo showing the SD card Map.
My bad, I should have mentioned my car is an IS250.... I cannot find the SD card anywhere..... I shall look closely one more time.

Finally figured out where the nav SD card hides in the IS.....inside a flap (out of sight) right at the bottom of the centre console, just above the seat heater buttons. You have to push the flap and it opens up to reveal the SD card.
