i have the v6 grand cherokee and it's fine for me but i don't drive fast any longer. lead footing it for me just increases anxiety for tickets. the reg 5.7 certainly has more grunt and sounds good, but it DRINKS gas.

actually it only does marginally worse in the real world vs the pentastar v6. They are rated at 19, but i know guys getting 23-24mpg hwy and the pentastars are getting 24-26.

Results are about 0.5 mpg better on both counts for the 2016 (on significantly less data), and about 0.5 mpg lower for the V8 only (V6 about the same as 2017) on the 2015.

also, i do a fair majority of highway and only get about 21 combined on my '15 v6. the v8 from what i've read/heard is typically about 15 combined.

To the OP go for it, V8 in a smaller SUV is kind of a rare thing now days, I'm sure it will be fun to drive. As for the fuel economy thing, I'm sure it does pretty good on the highway(lots of gears in transmissions now days along with better aerodynamics), but I bet with a heavy foot in traffic its going to be somewhere between 8 to 15mpg. That's the sort of fuel economy our trucks(Escalade, Suburbans, Expeditions) got when I drove professionally about 3 years ago. I'd also make sure it runs on regular gas, as the premium thing is where they really stick it to you now days, its usually 25-50% more than regular gas.
