Poll: Do you like the new look of Toyotas?
#46
On topic, I went with mixed bag. I'm liking the new Camry - seen quite a few of these in different colors, and I think it's a particularly successful look in darker shades, or red perhaps. The new Corolla also kinda grew on me, as well as the RAV4. I don't get the new Avalon at all, nor the recent Prius. The Prime variant looks decent enough, but it's not beautiful. I also like the iM - not so much the iA of course. I think their cars share many common styling elements - such as a prominent grille and angular headlights, but they go too far with this theme on many of their cars - while getting it close to right on others. Overall, I think maybe they will figure it out if they keep at it.

Below, like Japanese origami with lots of flat surfaces, straight edges, and sharp line angles - the RX looks sweeter of the two, and just as well to befit its badge and price...

The Japanese are famous for attention to detail and refinement etc, however they are not famous for their styling studios.
Back in the 1990's when the Lexus GS was first released, for the first time, TMC gave Giorgetto Giugiaro permission to publicly announce that Italdesign had actually quietly styled TMC products for many years.
The world's most renowned for automotive styling would probably have to be the Italians like Italdesign and Pininfarina etc.

The mirai interior is great.
It's the front exterior design that is funky.
Oh, those fisher-price white painted part in the prius bugs me

I was behind a Mirai just the other day. It's probably the same one I've seen in and around my area over the last year. Side profile doesn't look too bad, but boy when you get right up close behind it and see all those weird creases and folds, just looks like something from Death Race or some sci-fi video game. This is one case of form not following function with respect to styling.

The public part of the Detroit show hasn't started yet. Did you get in for the industry/press-previews? Or are you talking about a previous show

My vote was "I am impartial. They look OK" as it was the best to choose from the list, but its really an average of some Toyotas I like vs others not. A more appropriate voting option for me would have been "I like some, dislike others".
Not liking:
Prius (front and rear, though the Prime is fine)
Camry, Corolla, Yaris (front-end only is a bit over-styled, rest is fine)
New Avalon (front grille on the Touring is too big a "black hole", rest is fine)
Liking all the rest:
Prius C, C-HR, 86, iM, RAV4, Highlander, Tacoma, Tundra, Sienna, Sequoia
