You could nit pick, oh, I wish the M3's steering were like the E92/E90, etc. This F generation, I honestly think that although neither the sedan nor the coupe are gorgeous, the coupe is actually unattractive, so I'd go sedan myself. Any of the prior generations, coupes all the way....my .02.
I actually love how the M3 looks. Just not thrilled with that exhaust sound. The C63 has an amazing exhaust sound and amazing interior but the outside is kind of bland to me. I love Audi's aftermarket support.

I just got 2018 M3 with CompPack as I need rear seats for the kids.
No better performance 4door under $100k imo.

The CP exhaust sounds much better than standard but still not like a V8.

The C63 would definitely be my pick of the top-tier compact sports sedans, just based on sound, performance figures, and the interior. A coworker of mine has a C450 AMG, and I liked the interior of his car, and that car itself seemed like a fun one.

I think Audi would probably be the dealer lot I'd visit first, just based on value and reliability. Though, I'd have to test-drive to make sure the driving feel is improved. I preferred the IS's handling feel over the 3-series and A4 when I was car-shopping. But, now we have a new A4/A5 line.

The F10 535i I had was built like a tank.
The M3 is not as luxurious obviously and interior quality doesn't compare.

Performance wise the M3 is in a different league but it is very easy to get in trouble on the street.

Audi S5 Sportback.

It was my second pick to the Stinger.

I'd take a look at the E43 AMG and M550. Not full performance, but plenty fast. The AMG is in the low 4s and the M is in the high 3s. The E63 and M5 both start north of $100k which is bonkers to me.

Up until about 5 or 6 years ago, I would have said BMW, hands-down.....but, with the latest new vehicles, I'd say Audi is (now) the way to go.

Go big or go home. Get a 2018 GT3 6spd manual.

Edit: if you need 4 seats than Panamera just can't be beat. Nothing even comes close.

M3 weighs 500-600lbs less than the Audi and feels even lighter, it is way more agile car. Audi is good choice if you want AWD.
Same goes for the C63S AMG, its heavy and not as sporty. Love the V8 though but the M3 just looks a million times better- besides the doors, all the body panels on the M3 are unique. You also get the amazing CF roof.

I have inquired about ordering a GT3 and the dealers that actually have an allocation want $20-30k over sticker. If i didnt have kids then I would pull the trigger lol - my exact build is $158k, which is twice the price of my M3.

One of our great customers just took delivery of one and I got a chance to check it out for a bit. Sapphire blue, yellow brake calipers, carbon bucket seats, ceramic rotors, 6spd manual. The car is incredible.

I am not usually a fan of how Porsches sound, but with the new 4.0 motor in this thing..... it's hands down the best sounding Porsche I've seen (in my opinion). Better than any turbo 911 I've heard.

Too bad it's brand new and can't be revved to 9k yet. I bet that thing REALLY sings. The new exterior touches are very nice as well (new trunk/wing/ rear and front bumpers, etc.

If you got that kind of money, that's probably the best performance car you can get.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Lapping the Nurburgring in 7:32, it's a true supercar with 4 doors.

I would go with the KIA Stinger GT2 and put the leftover $15000+ into a mutual fund! BMW is going to be a maintenence nightmare and the AMG will depreciate like crazy. Lease the Stinger and let KIA deal with the depreciation.

I want to love that car so much and have read a lot of reviews on it. Great styling, very fast, great handling, makes a great racket. Then it seems like every other review I read, the author had the car throw a check engine light, not start, just up and quit on them, run funny, or have some sort of glaring quality fault that is simply absurd in any car today, be it a Kia Rio or a company's $80,000 flagship.

Personally I've been digging Mercedes Benz for the past few years, I like the styling, the quality feeling, the new generation of cars look great in and out IMO, the tech is very well done/intergrated IMO. Audi is also making great stuff since about 2010 or so, their new cars feel several orders nicer and better built than the stuff from the 2000's.

BMW, well after reading about all the problems these cars have, even new ones under warranty, I really don't trust their engineering or accountants(a lot of the problems are due to cheap components like plastic water pumps) And yet these same problems pop up on several generations spanning over a decade, including the current cars on sale. Plus their interiors just leave me cold, some of the base model ones look really cheap/horrible too.
