I agree that the new honda is pretty ugly (last model was great), but if it's any consolation, this takes the cake for the ugly child in the honda family

That doesnt look too bad at least. Honda seems to have issues with finishing their designs. Sometimes they start from the front and run out of talent by the time they get past the rear doors. Sometimes they start from the back and just give up by the time they get to the side mirrors.

I saw a new Clarity in my work parking lot. I was surprised. It looks huge in real life.

Style-wise, it looks like something the French would have come up with a couple of decades ago LOL.

That is the Honda Clarity, available as a plug-in hybrid model now and eventually as an EV and a fuel cell electric vehicle.

I have seen it and sat in it, and yes, it looks huge and strange. As an "only available from Honda" (strange, "why didn't I think of that? ") feature, the back parcel shelf is high but it has a window (just visible above the rear centre headrest) that allows the driver to see into the trunk and out through the lower portion (below the rear trunk lid, with the Honda logo on it) of the split rear window.

Reminds me of the 1991 Chevy Caprice with those rear fender overhangs or "fender skirts", I think that's the proper term.

Anyways, for all those hating on the new Accord's styling, saw one in person a couple weeks ago. Must say its a sharp looking car, except for the WAY overstyled front end. But I could get used to that, especially if you pick a darker color. Still think though they should have made a lot more of the front end body color. Still its a way nicer looking car than the Civic.

As for the new Honda turbo motors, personally I think they are great for this day and age of heavier, bigger cars equipped with automatic transmissions that need more power(mainly low rpm torque) to feel fast. The turbo 4 is really awesome in countries that tax you on displacement, yes I'd rather have the 3.5 V6 in the Accord, but that just isn't how the world works now days, better to make us Americans suffer because its cheaper to make 1 engine for all those poor 8,000 bastards in Norway who would have to pay a 5,000 Euro tax to get more power in their Accords if it had the 3.5 V6 vs the 2.0 4 cylinder.

I love the old tin can Hondas from the 90's and their light weight(1996 Civic is 2300lbs lol), their great handling and their rev to the moon engines. One of the most fun cars I ever drove was a 1994 Del Sol SiR, B16, 1.6 liters, 160hp, 2300lbs, revved to a maniacal 8000rpm. Engine didn't even wake up till you got on the cam, aka VTEC kicked in at 4500rpm or so. This was some really crazy stuff for 1994 IMO. Drove an S2000, it was like that Del Sol but on steriods, handling was even sharper.

I wish Honda still built cars like that, but the light/cheap/rev to the moon era is now gone. I understand cars now have to be a lot heavier, a lot larger, and all automatic transmissions now days due to customer tastes and safety regulations. Nobody wants that old 90's Honda engine that made no power down low and sucked *** with an automatic transmission. Also 120hp goes a lot farther in a car that weighs 2300lbs vs one that weighs 3300lbs. The Honda turbo motors are a good solution to what the market wants now days IMO.

The rear reminds me of a Citroen C5.
I like the Clarity styling more than the new Accord.
