Lexus gx 470 SUV. Flat key with case next to ignition no longer starts the iginition - is there a battery in the flat key holder that should or can be replaced?

The flat key for the LS430 (presumably the same as the GX470) does not have a battery. For the GX470, after inserting the flat key, be sure to bring the key case next to the ignition switch within 10 seconds and hold it there until the security light goes out. Then, turn the key within 60 seconds to start the engine.



If the security indicator light (see sketch below) goes out, and you still cannot turn the key, the immobilizer latch may be stuck. Try wiggle the steering wheel while turning the key to free the latch. If the security indicator light does not go out when you bring the key case to the ignition switch, you will have to have the system re-programmed to recognize the key case.
