Question Installing Stubby Antenna Question

I am wanting to install a stubby antenna instead of another mast (car wash incident).

I was wondering though, if I install the stubby, will the antenna motor still run when the radio turns on and off? Thanks.

If the motor you are referring to is the one which raises and lowers the antenna mast, then yes. Unless you remove some of the trunk garnish trim and disconnect the modular connector to the mast motor. You may even hear the motor adjusting the antenna height based on the radio station frequency. But I suspect you’ll never notice it. Most of the noise comes from the mast, and tooth strip moving in the guide.

...or you can pull the antennae fuse and that will stop the motor.

Not 100% sure about the OP’s 2005 year model, but the Antenna in my 02 is managed by two fuses which also protect other circuits. I believe the 05 is the same.

I went the $15 replacement route. It was REALLY easy and quick. Much easier than going through the hassle of pulling out the carpet and taking out the motor.

just use the search feature and search s2000. I bet you will locate it right away.

if your not sure how to search, just scroll up to the stickies and there are instructions.

You will have to find an antenna mount. If I remember right, a Tundra antenna base (this replaces your powered antenna base) is what I ended up buying. You will need to modify it a little, you also need to modify the base of the antenna that you see outside, need to cut it in the bottom so you can mount the S2000 antenna. Good luck. Do a search and you can see what I did on mine.
