Center Console I-Drive
Can this whole piece from the 2017 and 2018 IS be fitted on the 2016 IS model? This whole piece looks so much nicer than the 2016 center console haha.

I'm interested to know whether the cup holder can be swapped, my iphone 7+ can then be placed there..

Thanks man. Even if one of the button doesn't work i will be cool with it. Just loving the new style much more than the old one. It looks kind of cheap lol.

Guys I did this swap. It is not a 100% fit but it can be pretty close.
All of the buttons work, you retain every button you have rite now. But the buttons will be mapped to the wrong commands, the center trigger button is now your enter button and the zoom is maps or something like that. I use the buttons so rarely it's never bothered me. The mouse pad unit is hard to get centered perfectly so sometimes to reach the very top right corner with the mouse I need to force it a bit but again maybe once every 6 months I need to touch the mouse. I mainly use the volume control, radio button, and media button that does everything I need.
Back to the arm rest. To make this fit you will need to actually dremel away some plastic of your center console. No worries however even after doing this the OEM 14' gen console will still fit back in. You just need to trim some fat to make room for the new leather wrist wrest.
I do not have any nice photo's of it installed in my car. My interior is an incomplete project so I have kept photo's to a minimum. I'll be finishing things this spring however.
Here's a crap photo of my 2014 IS350 with the 17'+ console.

The 2017+ GEN9 joystick pinout (with the extra back buttons) have the same wiring pinout configuration at the connector plug.
I have tried the 2014-2016 IS (GEN8) joystick in a 2016+ RX (which is GEN9) and all the buttons behaved properly.
I will be trying the RX GEN9 Joystick in our older 2014-16 Navigation stereo when I have a chance to get both cars next to each other.
I believe if you want to have all buttons behave properly you will need the Joystick from the newer console armrest as well in order for it to function.
I am guessing the back button will not do any function but the other buttons will be mapped properly.
This will be pretty much the same scenario as if we were to do a full swap of the 2017+ IS Navigation console and joystick into older 2014-2016 navigation stereo.
I will share my findings when I have a chance.
So nobody is lost,
When I am referring to GEN8 or GEN9 it means the Generation of the Navigation system. These are terminology that Lexus/Toyota labels themselves for the Map updates.
There are slight differences and changes between them in GUI and button layout but the wiring connector harnesses of the two are 95% the same from my time looking at wiring schematics.
GEN7 is actually pretty similar to the two generations mentioned as well.

A GEN9 joystick (i.e. 2017+ IS) in a 2014-2016 IS equipped with navigation
All buttons work besides the back button. Direct swap plug
Thought I share

I am still awaiting for one on Ebay. Do you know if the hold piece (referring to the arm rest) will fit into the 2016 IS or i need to mod it?

Finally got the 2017+ full console and installed into 2014.
All buttons mapped correctly, only button that does not work, the "back" button
There is some minor trimming on 2014-16 console to allow this to fit. Check out video for more details.
