Buying advise 2010 LS460
Hello.
I found 2010 LS460 , 69K miles, 1 owner. Checked service history - has been done every 5K miles at Lexus dealer. This is the end of 2010 production date car, so no control arms issues.
It has ML stereo and 19" wheels, no air suspension ( which I like). RWD.
Carfax shows that it failed emission inspection in January and then passed it after 50 miles. What does it mean ? It's not a Lexus dealer. Their price is $25,400 plus doc fees about $200. I can't check the car in person, because it takes about 3 hours to fly from my location, but it's mint on pictures. I offered them 24,500, but they said 25400 is the best they can do. What do you guys think ?
Thank you.

Buying from a non-Lexus dealer is a gamble to a certain degree. Personally, I'd buy a L/Certified from a dealer.
I just purchased a '15 F Sport L/certified last week.. and it's comforting to know that I can call Lexus for whatever reason. The car has 3 years left on the manufacturer warranty + 2 years CPO warr. That's almost 6 years!

For my next Lexus, if I'm not buying within driving distance to see it in person, I'm only flying out if it's at a reputable Lexus dealer. You never know when the pictures might be out of date.

You might want to check if it will be possible to bring it for inspection to a near by lexus dealer at your own expense (call lex to found out $) . First you will find out if the seller is confortable doing this and next you might get peace of mind knowing it has been checked by dealer.

I agree with you, but L/certified is out of my budget. I am looking for 2006 LS with about 70K miles or 2010 LS with the same mileage. It's going to be a second car in my family and it will not be driven much. Our first car is 2015 MB GL350. I'm still debating with myself what to get - 430 or 460. I know I can get 430 for about $14K-$15K or 460 for the price I specified above. I've never had LS, we are mostly Mercedes family, but I've heard a lot about Lexus legendary reliability.
Just curious - have you had any reliability issues with your MB's?

I had 3 e-classes ( leased), only one of them had an issue with engine and the dealer said the engine must be changed. That was 2007 model. Started from check engine light I went to my dealer to fix it and he said engine change required. I still think the dealer just wanted to make money charging MB The car was at the dealership for 2 months. During that time I was driving C-class. At the end of the process dealer gave me a check for inconvenience for $1,500. That was leased, so I did not care about reliability. Other 2 E-classes were 2010 gas model and 2012 diesel model and no single issue. My first GL was also diesel, then Gasoline and now diesel again. No complains till now, but I’ve never seen anything more than 25K miles on any of my car’s odometer. My current GL350 can actually first time in 15 years can beat that number, because I’m just tired to waiste money changing cars every 2-3 years )

It's a pretty good price and the history seems good. Have you checked on the LExus owners website on any comments/service done by the Lexus dealership?
Do the deal on the contingency that you'd have an independent shop (or Lexus dealer) do a Pre Purchase Inspection, which usually runs ~$100....as long as there are no warning signs, you should be good.
Given the service history of the vehicle, plus the fact it is a LS460, I can't imagine too many issues.

All kidding aside, I'd recommend the 2010 period.
