Default 2003 GS300 Audio and Headunit help.

I recently purchased this vehicle from an old man for a killer price. it has 46,000 miles and everything works except for the door power locks. I'm in the process of switching my system from a 2000 Maxima into it. I have 2 15" sundown SA subwoofers running off a 1500 watt sundown amp. I'm looking to get new door speakers (really loud and as much bass as possible) soon. I have an 800 watt Cerwin Vega amp that will push the door speakers. I have a extra battery in the truck to handle the power.

The head unit I've been looking at is a Pioneer AVH-X4700BS 7" DVD Receiver w/ Bluetooth Siri Eyes Free AVHX4700BS ----- http://www.ebay.com/itm/301880067404

Also the stock subwoofer behind the backseat i am looking to change. I was thinking about putting an 8" sub there but not sure how that will work or sound since its not in a box. My goal here is to have a loud and powerful sound system.

Can someone suggest some door speakers and a sub that will blow my windows out

Well a couple of things that dont make sense that you need not worry about... You dont need door speakers with a lot of bass (you have a pair of 15's for crying out loud) To be honest, I'm certain you dont have the room in your trunk for a PROPER box for the 15's, but do what you please... As for the factory woofer, why would you even put anything in its place? again... you have TWO 15's! remove it and use it to ventilate the bass to the cabin from the improper box for the 15's.

As for door speakers, all depends what you're looking for. If you just want loud, go to any mom and pop car audio shop and get the highest rated pyle's or some other crap. If you want good sound quality, go Focal, Hertz, Moral or Rainbow. If you seriously want bass out of your door speakers, you need to do it right and spend plenty of money on sealing your doors so the door can become a box for the door speakers. Just swapping speaker isnt going to do the job. The factory door speakers are 4", so you're going to need to fabricate an adapter plate to hold a larger speaker i.e a 6.5". Once thats done, you need to seal the whole door.

As for the Cerwin Vega amp... I'd go with something else.

I have 2 bulk pack of Dynamat that I'm installing this weekend. The box I have fits but it does not leave much room. As it is 38" x 18" x 18". i think using the stock subwoofer hole is a great idea and will probably do that. I saw a thread where a guy did that and the results were amazing. I have Rockford Fosgate door speakers that i may just transfer. The reason I was getting something else is because the car they are in I'm selling as is.

i also saw a post where someone cut a hole into the back seat where the cupholders fold down. He then put a subwoofer facing the front of the car and a mesh type cover over it.

Yes all 4 are 4". Most optimum box for a trunk set up is as you said, through the arm rest in the back. However, both subs and ports must face forward as well as the box being COMPLETELY sealed from the rear. The next best setup is removing the rear dash and have both the woofers and port facing up at the rear window. The next (but cant do with 15's due to lack of space) is a 4th order ported through the factory woofer hole. Bigger woofers doesnt necessarily mean louder. Proper box and woofer configuration for the car is what makes it louder. I know a few guys with a pair of 8's that would blow those two 15's out of the water... Because of properly designed set up.

Sure the box fits, but you're suffocating the woofers by taking up all the trunk space. Where is the air suppose go to? It comes to the point where the bass exiting the box will cancel itself out because its going to hit the trunk, pressurize, come back to the port (or woofer if its not ported) and begin to fight itself. Its like double jumping on a trampoline.

Theres a guy on here with a GS with a pair of 10's in a 4th order, the box is probably bigger than yours and I guarantee it would blow those 15's away

Too bad his pics have been deleted...:

It all costs money yo! Expect up to $500 for a properly engineered box or at least $250+... But damn will it be worth it!
