oil change
How do you change your own oil?
Using jacks?
Using a ramp? (I used 3- 2x10 to clear the bimmer engine)
Does all the oil drain when the car is on a slant when jacked up?
Do you remove the whole splash shield or can you access the filter from a different angle?
Is there a light coming on the dash when I change oil at different intervals from the lexus maintenance schedule? If so, how do I erase it?
PS; I could never understand why the manufacturer could not have the oilfilter in the engine bay rather than under the car

jack as in jackstand or hydraulic jack on the center bearing point?
With the car jacked does all oil drain or will some accumulate on the low side of the oilpan?

Never get under a car supported by jacks alone.
I drive it up on ramps. I would never get under a car held up by jacks. Lift it and put jack stands under it if you don't want to use ramps. Having it slanted seems to allow all the oil to drain. If you clear the trip odometer so it isn't showing, you can reset the mileage when the Maint Reqd shows up by holding down the reset button (for the trip odometer) when starting the car.

I normally jack up the drive-side front to get the tire about 1" off the ground, then I support the car with a jack stand (never work under the car without proper support with a jack-stand). I find that this will give me enough room to open the little access panel to change out the oil filter. Also, by jacking up just the driver-side front corner, you will get the most old oil out of the oil pan since the plug is located on the passenger-side of the pan.

I used to use this (and usually changed 2 qt of ATF too): http://pitrow-diy.com/
Now that I've moved, I will hopefully be using this: http://www.sincitydiy.com/

I don't use a jack or ramps, just set air suspension on HIGH and slide underneath. Step by step at https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post7507030.
I change oil every 8000km per the original Lexus Canadian maintenance schedule, have done it several times now - it's a very quick and simple process.

One reason I wanted to get the old oil out is that I am changing over to synthetic.
Lifting the driver side to clear the front wheel 1" off the ground and thereby tilting it towards the oil drain seems good; however If you use a jack to lift the car at its lifting point - how do you get the jackstands under it?. The jack takes all the room on the liftpoint.
With the jackstand in place do you still have access to the oilfilter or is the jackstand blocking it?

I would put the jack stand under the rear anchor point of the lower control arm. I took a couple of pictures to show where that is. The pictures also show the 2 screws (see red arrows) you need to remove to open the oil filter access panel, and the drain plug (see green arrow).
